74° and windy this morning. I took the dogs out and it started to rain after walking past a few homes so we turned around and came back home. Right now it's 80° and cloudy. We're supposed to get some vigorous thunderstorms around midnight and continuing through about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Rain cooled 67° this morning although the humidity was crazy high. We should have mostly cloudy skies today but will stay dry for the rest of the day.

34 this morning with a beautiful sunrise in process. We should see 60 or so but clouds are moving in. No rain expected today maybe a 20% chance tomorrow. Hitting the golf course today getting in a little fun before I decide to hit the yard work with a vengeance. I have an area that needs some fill and then a reseeding, time to get with it! Plus all the normal tasks

currently 66 on its way to 71 with a somewhat ominous forecast, "Cloudy, windy and humid with a couple of showers and a heavy t-storm; storms can bring flooding downpours, hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado" .... as noted above on the 9th, yesterday afternoon we got word our Sportchassis is ready to be picked up at the body shop ... our hope was to complete packing and hookup for tomorrow's scheduled drive to Raleigh Oaks .... the forecast says heavy/steady rain is going to move in shortly and last into tonight .... looks like we will have to take care of everything in the morning ....

additional note :

shortly after posting the above, our lights flickered a couple of times and then went out .... previous experiences indicate that either something fell on a line or took out a power pole .... in addition, while it has calmed down right now, when the power went out the predicted high wind could easily be seen in the tree tops .... Maureen was the first to report the outage .... since then, we have received text saying thousands are affected and they expect to have the power back on around 2PM .... with our home internet is out we've fallen back on our traveling MIFI .....

OK, things have changed again .... our power just came back one so things are back to normal ... :D

44 heading to around 60 with partly cloudy skies. Maybe a thunderstorm this afternoon but the chances are small. Nice weekend on tap with sunny and 70+ both days. Making fresh ice now with the intent to grill some New York steaks and enjoy a gin and tonic tomorrow. Hello spring! :D

Today is prep the yard for this weekends de-thatching and fertilizing. I guess it’s time to remove my snow stakes from the driveway, could have done that six weeks ago. My neighbors must think I’m nuts. I also need to smooth out the gravel, my driveway has a steep but short hill at the beginning plus a nearly 180 degree turn from the road. UPS and similar trucks make this turn and then punch the gas and cause big dips in the driveway. Nothing that a shovel, rake and my tractor bucket can’t take care of in short order.

I didn't look at the temperature this morning before I went on the dog walk but will estimate it in the low 70's. It's 80 degrees at this posting. Nothing really new to report. Robyn and I took the "new dog" to the vet to be neutered. I'm sure that'll make him happy! We needed another dog like another orifice but I was clearly not even in the voting. The son is leaving at the end of the month for his new position in Michigan and taking his dog with him and, supposedly, this dog is for my sister in law whose dog passed a couple of years ago. So, the number should remain the same by month's end.

Very much change of seasons for us, summer has come to an end down under.
Night time temps in the 70's and 100+ days are long gone, we havent dipped below freezing yet but it wont be far off with night temps below 40 and days in the 70's, perfect hunting weather.
Local game populations are getting ready for winter, deer are more active and found the first sign the itinerant feral hogs are moving to lower elevations from the higher country this week. They arrive this time most years and stay for around 5 months before vanishing again when spring arrives.

I’m sipping my Folgers and see these two cranes walk by. I think these are the same two I’ve seen the last two years.
