Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Y John Deere started up with no complaints yesterday but it was up to 14* and it’s a gaspot. It’s currently snowing here with +/- 6” expected. I got all ready for it yesterday, so hope to just plow once it stops and carry on. They say it’ll hit the mid 40s here by the weekend.

Expected ice storm came in yesterday afternoon and lasted into the wee hours of the morning. The ice on top of the snow already on top of the Doug Fir limbs caused the limbs to break off. The end of a huge one just missed taking out a window at the end of the house. All night long we could hear near and far limbs breaking off and thumping into the ground. Amazing we did not loose power. The drive in lined with Doug Fir. Eventually we did loose power about 9:45am. Power company eta was for fix to be by 10pm, so started the generator. But then power came back about 1pm. Right now it's a thawing out mess mix of ice, snow and slush.

Saw on the news what a mess Western Oregon is experiencing. Not fun. Ice storms are the worst winter storm.Mags wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 4:24 pmExpected ice storm came in yesterday afternoon and lasted into the wee hours of the morning. After yesterday’s warm up (along with snow) today it’s back to cold. 4 above now but hopefully we will see the 20’s today. Got 5” of snow yesterday and it’s that wonderful light fluffy easy to move snow. Heading out here in a bit to start blowing and plowing. Thankfully the plow has a heater and cab and the blowing and shoveling part doesn’t take very long, maybe 30 minutes.
After a week my son’s drain is still frozen. He’s running heat tape on it and I’m thinking this Saturday when the temp gets close to freezing we’ll hit it hard with heaters. He has a crawl space and the drain pipe runs suspended thru it.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Good morning, was 24 when I arose earlier with a 9 mph breeze.
Suppose to have a wintry mix come through mid day, will have to see what that amounts to.
The wife is cooking breakfast, I smell the sausage.
It's up to 30 now as I was checking the front's movement after coming in from a little plinking session.
Keeping Gene's thread going while he recuperates.
Not much else, may load some cast in some 30-30 brass after breakfast.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Good morning, we've already reached today's high of 29, presently 28, dropping all day.
Down to 9 by tomorrow morn and the wind is howling 12 mph with gusts in the low 20's.
Not much on tap for the day, some more cleaning for sure.
Who knows, may wake the neighbors....

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
19 heading to 29, down right balmy out there (Not). Pretty stiff wind blowing and the snow blowing off the roof keep setting off the Ring cameras. Warmer for the next several days with temps finally above freezing. My wife wants to have a wall in the living room done in thin brick so today we will be going to a couple of places to look at colors. Yuk.
Son finally got his drain pipe thawed out and of course one of the elbows developed a leak. As there is no pressure in the line I suggested he just dry it out completely and duct tape it until spring when we can replace it. Crawl space but at least it has a concrete floor.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
It was 45° this morning with clear skies. The high is only supposed to reach 54°. Tomorrow the temps are forecasted to be lower with the high only reaching 48°. I just made some hot cereal for breakfast along with toast and coffee.

22º outside right now. Actually feels pretty comfortable after the last week. Got an inch of snow last night and more coming this afternoon. The transaxle for my garden tractor (with my snow blower) is supposed to get here in the next couple of hours. Hope to get it on and running quickly. I am sure I will get it done by Tuesday when it is supposed to rain.
I'll believe it when it happens but I need to be prepared again.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
beautiful day .... 53 now which is slated to be today's high .... they say the temp will fall below freezing some time before midnight and not get above freezing until around noon tomorrow .... looks like the cold will be with us through late this week .... results of Maureen's medical test yesterday look good and for us that is always good news .... once we get the dog's bath taken care of, nothing major on tap

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
COLD .... while 25 now only going to 35 later today and dropping to 19 tonight might not be considered really cold in some places, it is for us ..... we may not have over 4 - 5 hours of above freeze temps today .... we need to haul off some trash today and the cold sure isn't welcome

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Good morning, and a happy Saturday to you all.
Woke up to a balmy 8 degrees around 7 cst.
Winds out of the north @ 9 mph making it feel like -5
Predicted high of 20, so I guess the snow will not disappear today either.
Got some more cleaning to do back here in the cave.

Jim, your North Carolina forecast is almost exactly the same as today’s here in Eastern Washington State. There’s just something wrong about that. Hope you warm up soon.JEBar wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 8:49 amCOLD .... while 25 now only going to 35 later today and dropping to 19 tonight might not be considered really cold in some places, it is for us ..... we may not have over 4 - 5 hours of above freeze temps today .... we need to haul off some trash today and the cold sure isn't welcome
Not much on tap for today other than my wife wants to make another trip out to look at brick. As i said yesterday, yuk! My son reported last night that he finally has a fully functional septic system. It’s been a long week for him and his wife.
