Seasoning Cast Iron
I’ve had this new Lodge skillet for some time but have never used it. Today I decided to season it. It didn’t take long with the correct seasoning grease. I’ve used this brand before and really like it.

Hash to go with those eggs?

Re: Seasoning Cast Iron
That's all we use is cast iron. We have about half a dozen various sized pans, pie pans, Dutch ovens from small to large, etc. It's good stuff!

I recently bought a portable Blackstone griddle and used the same product to season it. It worked great as you said. Love that griddle but it’s too damn cold to go outside and use it right now. Plan to take it in the RV this year and enjoy some great meals.

I used my barbie outside the other day and it had trouble producing enough heat. It’s just outside the RV door and I can watch it from inside.

I have the same problem with my Weber charcoal grill. It has a thermometer in the lid and even with a hot fire it struggles to get above 300. It’s supposed to warm up this weekend and I’m wanting a grilled steak so I’m going to give it a try. Tired of kitchen prepared meals.

Re: Seasoning Cast Iron
We always seasoned ours with bacon/fatback and ham. Although no longer made Wagner and Griswold are the best cast iron frying pans out there. We found ours at flea markets and yard sales.......We have an 8 in no name that we have cooked in for over 50 years and it works great.........Food just taste better from a cast iron frying pan.

I have mostly Wagner. I bought this one about a year ago after it was professionally cleaned. I need to season it again.
I didn’t pay very much for this no-letter 1101. Some of the lettered and spiders go for hundreds of dollars.

Re: Seasoning Cast Iron
I cook with cast iron and stoneware. I love my cast iron cookware, I have a few lodge, 1 Wagner, and 2 Le Creuset. I have 2 lodge dutch ovens, and a Cuisinart.
All my stoneware is from pampered chef.
Side note, I have about 7-8 mini cast iron wood stoves, each has their own little cookware set.

Re: Seasoning Cast Iron
I bought several new Lodge cast iron items and have used them enough times they are well seasoned. I know they don’t have the brand recognition as some of the older Wagner and Griswold but my experience is there isn’t really any difference. I have all three brands.

My cast iron skillets are really seasoned now. Nothing sticks to them.

Those chops (?) look fantastic. I like my chops/steaks exactly like that with a crisp outer.

They were cooked hot and fast so the juices were seared inside.
