Morning, was 34 here when all got up here in central SC. Have a wind advisory today with gusts up to 40+ mph and a high 53 which I'm pretty sure won't feel that warm.
The 2 oldest grandsons had to go back to school today, tomorrow will be our last day here.

It’s the calm before the storm. Current temp is 17 with a high today of 33. Our winter weather advisory has been upgraded to a winter storm warning. Starting this afternoon we are expecting snow in the 5-10” range overnight and into tomorrow. Then tomorrow it will warm up a bit and that will make the snow heavy. That along with 45 mph winds will lead to wide spread power outages and tree damage. All that fun will be followed by an arctic blast with temps predicted to get to minus 12 one night and several nights below zero. Oh well, it’s been a good ride with a month of above normal temps.

Today I’ll be running the generator and filling up the wood rack and any other preps I can think of. This afternoon I’m seeing my doc about my bum knee. Tried to work out in the shop again yesterday and after about an hour I wrenched it again so had to quit. What is it the John Wayne (I think) said? “Getting old isn’t for sissies”. Well, I’m feeling like a sissy right now and I’m wondering how I am going to move 10” of wet heavy snow with a bum leg.

Temp right now is 40. Supposed to warm up to 49 by 2am tonight. After that hump, temps are predicted to slide down the rest of the week. Maybe snow Fri and Sat.

Rain rain and more rain! Every week now we are getting 2 big rain makers and here comes another tomorrow...Tuesday with another 2-3 inches!
My little creek is running high and had a concern about my bridge so did the quickest thing in case the water tries to lift it....I chained it to two trees on the up stream side. . Maybe this might keep it in place allowing it to move upward with the water.

I drove through Wenatchee twice a week for years. I really like that area especially Lake Chelan to the north.

Lake Chelan is beautiful. Pretty much the whole Columbia basin from me (on the CDN border) all the way to the coast by Astoria Or is stunning.

I know Chelan isn’t right on the river, but it’s close enough.

We got less than an inch today, but it’s started to pile up. Might have 5 or 6” by morning. I have the plow on the Tundra, and took the mower deck off the tractor and it’s blade and chains are in the <heated> shop.

It’s dumping here now. We were going to go to Spokane today, but 2 hours each way on the highway sounds unappealing at best, life threatening at worst.

I added a 250 sqft addition to my shop, so I will walk the dogs and then finish sheeting the walls and start moving some work benches and bench tools in. It’ll be nice to free up a bunch of space in the main vehicle bay.

Yes, all my 71 years here so have seen a lot of changes. It was a small town of less than 20,000 when I was growing up. Now the Greater Wenatchee Area which includes East Wenatchee has a population of almost 120,000.

I drove through Wenatchee twice a week for years. I really like that area especially Lake Chelan to the north.

If it's been awhile since you've made that drive you'd be amazed at the changes. Most of the east side of the Columbia up to Beebee Bridge and beyond is now all vineyards and orchards (mostly cherries) along with a few (probably very expensive) waterfront housing developments.

It’s been seven years since I’ve made the run over US2 from Woodinville to Ephrata. I’ve driven through there since the mid-sixties. I volunteered at Lake Chelan State Park for several years after I retired.

35 out there which will creep up a degree or two today. We did get the snow storm last night but as expected the warm-up came in. I currently have 4” of wet heavy snow waiting for me. All the snow is out of the trees from the wind and the temps. I’m happy that it’s only 4” not 10” as it’s going to be difficult to move.

We expect mild days today and tomorrow then on Thursday the deep freeze starts.

Good news about my knee, my doc believes I am suffering from bursitis and treatment for now is stretching, ibuprofen and rest. So happy to avoid the surgeons knife. Also I have been concerned if I did have a tear my activities would make it worse. While I understand I need to rest it at least I can get out and do the necessary chores and put up with the pain knowing I’m not ripping up anything important.

41°and windy. We had some terrible thunderstorms move through the area yesterday. It was 74 degrees and dropped to 61 degrees in about 20 minutes. It's only warmed up to 45 degrees at this writing. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

High winds overnight. Lot of swaying Doug Firs banging against each other making loud bass sounding booms. Then about 1 am loud breaking sounds and heavy trees booming into the ground. Whole house shakes like a 4.0 earthquake. Walk about this morning, no trees down on our property.

5:37PM ---- the strong storm that has been predicted for several days is raging through our area ..... only a few tornado warnings but many for straight line winds ..... we had to pickup one of our grandsons because schools were dismissed 3 hours early .... everyone around us is glued to the wall to wall local weather coverage .... bands of heavy rain have produced wide spread local flooding which is anticipated to spread ....
