Range Report: daily plinking

Post by Sir Henry » Sat Dec 23, 2023 12:36 pm

Instead of making a new thread each time I plink for a few minutes I think I’ll just add to this one. Unless of course I do some serious shooting.

Today I shot my Charger Mare’s Leg offhand at 15 yards. With the temperature in the upper 30’s I shot for about an hour.

Again my amount of hits didn’t seem to show up as dings on the trap.

Nice shooter that is! Is that a Ruger 25 round mag? I have one wrapped up for Granddaughter's new Compact 10/22 for Christmas.

No it’s the 15 round version. I usually load them to only 10 rounds. They are much better than the rotary 10 rounders yet not as bulky as the 25.

Makes me wish I still had my old Charger. Been thinking about getting another one, in fact. 10/22s are just so much fun.

Here is another Ruger. This time it’s an SR22. I shot five 10 round magazines offhand at 15 yards. I hit the trap every time but only hit a spinner twice.

I switched to HV from SV and am now seeing more evidence of hits. The SV barely chips the paint.

Looks like fun Gene. I believe I will wander out on the deck and sling some 45's at the gongs.
Raining off and on, and most of the deck is covered.

Beautiful picture Randy. It’s not that it is a great picture in itself but rather having taken so many myself I almost feel like I’m there. I can smell the smells, hear the sounds, and see the sights.

Todays morning plinking was with an H&R Sportsman. It’s a 9-shot breaktop DA. I shot at the 15 yard trap and only hit it a few times out of the five cylinders. I shot all of them DA.

I’ve been shooting more HV lately. This is a jar of Federal that I want to get rid of so I can go back to SV. This is handy to grab a handful and put them in my pocket. The glass would be to fragile for a range trip but is safe at home.
