30F and a fine snow. I’m all prepared for winter so I’m hoping for a lot of snow.

23 with an overcast sky. High later in the 30’s somewhere. The forecast is for more snow to start falling in about an hour and then maybe turning to rain this afternoon. I doubt that will happen here at my place but with temps forecast to be in the 40’s this week I’m sure I will get rain. Not sure what I’ll do today but I’m thinking about doing the burning I need to do at the bottom of my property. I have three different places where I have piled and tarped limbs from dead trees I cut down. We’ll see what the weather does as I’m in no hurry to get this done, the limbs aren’t going anywhere darn it.

Dump run today. Maybe split some more firewood too.

We had a very sad day yesterday. Our oldest Weimaraner passed in the morning. We knew it was coming at some point, but it didn’t make it any easier. He was a spectacular dog. Everyone he met said “wow, what an amazing dog”. He was always a gentleman, and got along with everyone he met. Except for a few birds…

He is on the left in both photos.

33 and foggy out there, not pleasant at all. We are expecting several potent rain storms this week with rain totals here in the valleys around 2” and up to 5” in the mountains. This combined with all the snow we got last week is going to lead to flooding. Sadly it will probably wipe out most of the mountain snow just when the ski resorts are opening (very late this year). Then next weekend it’s supposed to get cold again with more snow possible.

I took advantage of the snow on the ground yesterday and did some burning of limbs at the bottom of my property. Got the small and medium areas done but ran out of time to do the large area. There’s enough limbs in the large area to take an entire day so I’ll wait until I can get it done properly.

Look, all the comforts of home. Table and chair, radio and lots of hot coffee.

Fog/Mist, 30°F, Humidity 93%
Wind Speed N 8 mph
Barometer 30.08 in
Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.
North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
We got .2 inch of snow over night which makes it the snowiest month so far the Fall.
After a flurry of activities' yesterday, today there nothing going on. Maybe I can get
back in my shop for a while.

35 degrees this morning, the warm front arrived last evening and the temp just increased all night. High pushing the upper 40’s and the freeze level is above 9000 ft which is above the tallest peaks in the area. All that valuable snow is melting fast. Thankfully the forecasters have backed off from the expected week’s rain totals with 2.5” in the mountains and around an inch here in the valleys. While we will have flooding it won’t be as severe as it could have been.

Nothing on tap for today. If it’s not raining too hard I’ll take the dog for a hike.

The old timers always told me that Indian Summer was a warmer than normal spell after the
first freeze. Well, here we go. It's supposed to be in the 50s tomorrow and Friday. Then
it becomes Minnesota again. :(

46 out there and the rain continues. This is probably our high for the day as this warm front is leaving and will be replaced by a cold front. More rain tomorrow and then maybe some snow for the weekend. Dreary out there with fog and rain.

Highlight of the day is going grocery shopping, wow!
