Those look great but I have hard time eating all of a big steak like that anymore. Fred Myer carries a 8oz Prime Sirloin that's kind of expensive at around $8 but they are always very good and tender compared to a Choice steak. About the right size along with a potato and another side. I had one last night with some fries and asparagus (and a piece of apple pie).
Your steaks are at just the doneness I like, do you consider that rare or medium rare?

I go for medium rare.
BBQ @ 350
20 minutes then flip. Set the timer for 15 minutes and start checking the temperature. Usually 40 minutes to medium rare perfection!

I don't have a BBQ. I pan sear my steak then put it in a 400°oven, 5 to 10 minutes depending on thickness.

Tri-Tip is good. We used to cook them a lot when I lived in California. They are not easy to find here though.
