another day starting in the 50's (59) and predicted to get into the 80's (85) later this afternoon .... still no rain mentioned .... morning drive to Raleigh to drop off sandals for repair, then on to Sam's to buy a bag of Halloween candy and some other basic supplies ....

We have had a hard freeze! first of the Fall.
Coffee and Famous Amos cookies. Carol got a care package from an office supply company
full of candy, cookies, pumpkin bread, pens and other office stuff for free. It's my job to
eat the candy and cookies.
Today I have to empty the pole barn as tomorrow a friend is going bring his two old Mustangs
to store for the Winter. I don't charge him anything but they take us out for a nice dinner
a couple of times a year. What I do is get the snow plow out from the back and move it to
the front. You know it's funny but by this time of year I'm tired of mowing so I'm ready for
some cold weather. You know, fireplace in the evening and all that, but then I have to plow
snow. There's always something.

Woke up to 15 this morning, finally the cold snap arrived as forecast. No, that doesn’t make me happy. We too had our first hard frost this morning and now with the sun streaming thru it’s pretty out there. High today is supposed to be in the upper 30’s depending on how much sun we get.

Did a bunch of pine needle raking and blowing yesterday and this morning I’ll pick up the piles and dump them in the appropriate spot. I’ve been dragging my feet this morning waiting for it to warm up a bit and keeping the stove stocked and hot.

A warm 74°again this morning. Currently it's 87°. I was hoping to go for a motorcycle ride today, but the sisters-in-law's care giver never showed up this morning. Perhaps I can get out tomorrow before it rains. I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast.

18 on my thermometer and the official Deer Park temp is 12. It’s always colder at the DP airport than what my thermometer shows but either way, it’s cold. Looks like we have sunny skies and maybe 40 today with a gradual warmup this week to overnight lows above freezing. Halloween looks to be nice for the kids with a high of 49 and no rain or snow.

Got all my pine needles picked up yesterday, two loads in my 4x8 trailer. All in all I’m nearly done with the winter preps. Need to change the oil in the snow blower and a generator and with the 40’s forecast for Halloween that looks to be a good day to do it.

Having my coffee in the sun, went to Mass, waiting for a Skype with the Danish family and the brunch. Slipped on ice last night and kind of sore in a few places, luckily I didn’t hit shoulder. So today it’s football on tv, everyone have a great day!

It's been a warm day. We're supposed to have a 35–40-degree temperature change by morning. Tomorrow is cued up to be rainy and cold. Right now it's 87° and the high tomorrow is predicted to be around 54 degrees. I got out on the Harley a bit this afternoon just to ride while it was still good weather. I'll have to wait a bit to get out again.

The front is through so feeling colder the next three days. Not much to do but have HOT coffee,
wear the warm clothes, and be glad i have a warm little house to be in when im not out doing stuff. Should warm some by weekend.... so the adjustment phase going into cooler weather at last begins...october was overall incredibly mild and nice.. my electric bill was 75 dollars which is pretty dern good considering that my heating and cooling comes from electric power, as well as lights and hot water...

It's 45 at the moment but should drop a couple more degrees before it starts to rise.
Only going up to 48, and the rain is "suppose" to move out a little before lunch.
Was going deer hunting but not in the rain, maybe I'll get out this afternoon.
The grandson and I were down at the bridge yesterday, and I slipped through it.
Scraped the back of the leg and have some swelling, it's still a bit sore but nothing to worry about.
Just got me a little gimpy for a few days, it'll pass.
Coffee is good, heck may move over to the loading desk and do some buffing on that ole Rossi stock set.

a most unwelcome start of the day that doesn't involve the weather .... a comfortable 60 right now with a predicted high of 85 .... a much lower 57 shown for tomorrow's high .... we had an appointment this morning to have some fiberglass work done on our camper .... yesterday I went out to hook the truck up to the camper .... turned the ignition key to the start position and absolutely nothing happened .... no clicking, no sound of any type .... the last time this happened was back in Feb or 2019 ....the problem turned out to be the truck has two starter solenoids .... one mounted under the hood on the driver's side of the firewall .... the second is on the starter ..... the one on the firewall was bad ..... the mechanic (notice I didn't say tech) I trust to work on our truck will be here in a little while .... sure hope that proves to be the problem

Interesting that you brought up the Deer Park drag races. Just this summer I’ve been hearing what sounded like big block motors running what I thought was a quarter mile race. Come to find out from my neighbor there have been eighth mile races there. I should have gone over and checked it out but never did.

This morning it’s a brisk 17 at the airport so probably no races today. Lol. I’m showing 20 here at home and starting to see dawn happening. Forecast is for sunny skies today and another nice day tomorrow for the trick or treaters. Starting mid week it is supposed to warm up but that warm up will bring rain.

Today is run around day with a trip to Idaho the highlight.

the last time this happened was back in Feb or 2019 ....the problem turned out to be the truck has two starter solenoids .... one mounted under the hood on the driver's side of the firewall .... the second is on the starter ..... the one on the firewall was bad ..... the mechanic (notice I didn't say tech) I trust to work on our truck will be here in a little while .... sure hope that proves to be the problem

yep, I prefer a mechanic .... he arrive shortly after I posted the above and told him the above .... he looked under the hood and pulled some of the air intake so he could get to the starter .... he then took hand held electrical meter and tested current to the starter solenoid .... that meter showed there was current there .... he walked over to his truck and brought back a hammer .. .. I turned on the ignition key and heard him tap metal .... the truck fired right up .. .. I drove it over to his shop and he's trying to find a replacement solenoid .... if he can't get one he will have to order a replacement starter with one attached

It was a cool and breezy 46° this morning on the dog walk. It's warmed up one degree since and also a light rain is falling. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast. Nothing on the agenda today.

It’s too damn cold! It’s been down to single digits overnight a couple of hours north of me where I’m heading tomorrow for my moose hunt. I will be bringing a lot of warm clothes!

Still Sunny most days, and getting a couple of degrees above freezing. I think it was only a few weeks ago we were looking for shade! Now the fire is lit in house and shop early every morning. Grim!

Wife got up and brought me an espresso in my “color case hardened” mug I found at a Starbucks a while back. I’m sure the mug design team was NOT intending it to appeal to hunters and cowboy shooters!

26° and im sure it will drop a degree or two before sunrise so we now have our first killing frost of the season. That will slow the deadbeat bugs down some at least. Warmer by weekend so i shall hug the coffee cup and coveralls and trudge on toward firearms deer season begining the 11th.......
