after taking a grandson to school this morning we picked up our Trailblazer ... the Check Engine light was caused by a bad VVT Solenoid ..?? .. I read what that does but most of it looked like it was written in some mystical language .... I did turn out to be right about the whine I was hearing .... the idler pulley needed to be replaced as did the serpentine belt​ .... 67 on its way to 77 later today .... a change (at least a temporary one) is at hand .... night temps in the 40's are forecasted to move in starting tomorrow night

It's hard to understand why you would need a new serpentine belt on a brand new vehicle. Also a bad VVT? It operates on oil pressure. Can also cause idling issues. Anyway, I hope there are no more problems. Enjoy that beautiful new Blazer.

The idler pulley probably took out the belt. Serpentine belts are great as long as everything else is working. But a belt tensioner problem can leave you along side the road.

Very true. I guess even brand new parts can be faulty...especially these days.

I went on a motorcycle ride today since it's the first time we've had weather that's been conducive for it. The low was in the upper 60's this morning and I decided to go for a long ride on the Harley. I had a good time riding and would up at one of my old haunts, Bob's Taco Station, in Rosenberg. It's a really quaint place that serves up really good Tex-Mex. The high was only 85° today and it's supposed to be even better tomorrow. I'm already trying to decide my destination for Sunday. I've got clients scheduled tomorrow.

Shotgun alarm clocks again. Duck season opened this morning and we live on the
prime duck hunting lake in the county.
Coffee is brewing and I have several folks who want to see the RV we have for sale this weekend.
Time to do the Fall work. I'll need to mow one more time and then start blowing leaves. I also
will have to pull the dock out of the water before it ices up. Oh yeah, we also need to winterize
the new RV.

Back home and woke up to 44 with a high predicted to be 78. Wow, nearly 80 in October. Nice today and tomorrow with a front coming in Monday afternoon bringing some rain.

Had a great week up in “grouse camp”. Other than grouse must be extinct where we were. I’ll post more in the hunting section. Today it’s get the yard work done prior to noon when the Washington State Cougars visit the UCLA Bruins for a football contest. Go Cougs!

63 as this is being typed on its way to 71 with a front bringing steady12 mph​ wind (gusting to 29 mph) out of the NW moving through our area ... that front is forecasted bring a night temps in the low 40's for the next 3 nights .... only thing on our agenda for later today is attending a funeral this afternoon

55 F and raining. We just got over sunny and low 80s for three or four days. Almost two weeks without rain was nice as it was a rainy summer here.
Coffee in the John Deere mug.
A slower day here so far.
Making an apple crisp for later is about it.

They're predicting 82 here on Sunday. Can't remember ever having such a warm late Sept/early Oct. They're predicting mid 60's next week but lows still only in the mid 40's.

I wouldn't mind a warmish Winter as long as it's cold and snowy in the mountains.

Good morning, a cool 40 degrees here this morning. Man it feels good. Low to mid 70's this afternoon. It's real dry, and still no rain in sight, but looking like a really nice fall day. Hope everyone has a good day.
