Well, well, it's raining. I didn't expect that. Oh well, coffee and cookies and
relax a bit. I guess I'll probably clean my shop today.

Taking the 4-wheeler to have the stater worked on. Then headed down to the river to help my friend put some metal roofing over a back porch.
64° when I got up.
87° for the predicted high.
I heard it is national coffee day.

64 now with spotty drizzle early this morning; otherwise, low clouds followed by some sun ..... they say it'll get up to 79 later today .... had a mobile RV repair fellow that I've known for may years to come by and check out a few things on our camper .... the most serious being the possibility of having a bent/warped axle .... I'm happy to report that the axles are fine, no repairs, no replacement .... after lunch we plan to drive over to Benson where we will pickup a bushel of fresh oysters for a gathering later this evening .... this will be the first for this fall and we are really looking forward to it ....

Aaaccchhh, you're hurting me now. I was the president of a large group when I lived in Virginia and
I used to give Oyster Roasts to entice new members. I and they loved it and now I am land locked
and miss it a whole bunch.

37 brisk degrees out there with light fog adding to the chill. 58 and sunny later.

Got up early and turned the furnace on and…nothing! Funny, the HVAC guy was here two weeks ago for the annual inspection and all was good then. Fiddled with this and that but no luck. Noticed a red light coming from an inspection port and got down on my old knees and saw a code E2. I pulled the cover off the unit which has a safety switch built in so the error code went away. Manually pushed the switch in and the error code didn’t come back but instead got the message “lo”. Yea, put the cover back on and the heat came on. Not sure if that switch did a reset which is interesting as I had turned the power on and off a couple of times before that.

Today we do the final preps for our outing including making a grocery run and stopping into BiMart for hunting licenses. Just went outside and turned the heat pump on in the RV so we can get it ready. Watch out you Stevens County grouse, we’re coming to get ya!

over the years we have hauled fresh oysters from our home are in NC to Maureen's home in east central SD .... almost immediately after getting there we'd have a beach party .. .. as I'm sure you know, oysters are a something that some folks really enjoy and others won't so much as try them .... we finally decided that the small number of family members out there who enjoy them didn't justify the time and effort it took to make the beach party happen .... for years now we have replaced the oyster beach party with a Frogmore beach party which features shrimp .... almost all of them enjoy shrimp so its become a family summer tradition

It's not quite as bad as it sounds. We have a company from Galveston, Tx. that comes bi-weekly all Summer bringing
truck loads of fresh oysters and shrimp out of Galveston Bay. Unfortunately the oysters are shucked which spoils the
fun, but the shrimp are really good.
My Chicago raised wife has grown to love steamed oysters. We got into a place at Myrtle Beach a few years back and
she went at them with gusto. That was her first time with steamed. Now she has several oyster shells she salvaged
from our last trip to Galveston and she places an oyster in each one, tops with garlic butter a small piece of bacon and cheese and one small
piece of jalapeño and then broils them. I love it.

Raw, steamed, broiled, baked, fried....you name it. I love oysters any way they're prepared.

Shotgun alarm clock this morning. I guess the early goose season bagan today.
Surprise, just when I was getting ready to park the old RV for the Winter we suddenly have
two different parties coming to look at it today. It would be nice to get it sold.
OK, time for coffee.
We're joining friends this afternoon at an Octoberfest celebration. Beer, brats, music and
good times.

A bit warmer today at 44, not sure what the high will be but probably in the low 60’s. We are supposed to be done with rain for the next several days but the rain we got this week is sure welcome. Everything has greened up nicely. We still have burn bans in place but I expect to see those expire soon. Still no shooting on public land due to the bans.

My furnace story continues…yesterday it went from working to throwing an error code, back to working back to error, ect. The tech came out late yesterday and figures the low pressure switch is sticking. He ordered a new one and will come back to install it later. No problem as we are leaving for a week or so today. I got the wood stove ready last night to have a fire this morning and woke up to the furnace running. Go figure.

Final packing this morning and then heading north for some fun. I’m bringing my Henry 410 and my wife is bringing her Weatherby 20 ga semi. Also for fun my Marlin 39-A and her Ruger American 22lr are coming along as well as my S&W old school steel 10mm in case we get attacked by a pack of wolves supported by a few bears and a cougar or two I’m bringing along a box of target loads to give the old Smithy some exercise.

It rained 1/2” in the last hour with lots of lightning. Hope it dries up for the Ogema Christmas Tree Festival.

off to an early (for us) Saturday morning .... one of our grandsons had an early "Coach Pitch" baseball game .... after the game we road over to Campbell University (20 some miles) to find the building in which the same grandson is to start swimming lessons this Thursday .... the temp is up to 67 on its way to 80 later this afternoon, yep a beautiful day on tap ....

NRL grandfinal today, our Aussie equivalent of the super bowl.
52 currently going for a top of 82, Kick off is 7.30pm so still 12 hrs away, firing up the smoker a bit later and a few friends around for drinks food and football. public holiday tomorrow so we can all over indulge.

60 on its way to 80 under a clear, Carolina Blue, sky ....first mention of rain is about a week away .... night time temps in the 40's aren't far off .... my project for this week is to completely empty our camper's basement and reorganize it .... its sure interesting the amount of stuff one can accumulate and put in there .... doing this is long overdue and won't be a fun task

We're back from church and Perkins. I had the sirloin and eggs breakfast. Not bad.
They cancelled the Twin Cities Marathon today due to the heat. What heat? I find it
hard to believe that a forecast of 90 is too hot.

My project for this week is to completely empty our camper's basement and reorganize it .... its sure interesting the amount of stuff one can accumulate and put in there .... doing this is long overdue and won't be a fun task.

Tell me about it. We finally sold the old RV yesterday and I find I can almost equip the new owners with accumulated stuff
we don't need from when we moved into the new RV. Old grills, folding lawn chairs, ect. The new RV has the roll out shelf that
is assessable from either side and is really nice.
