Our Morning Coffee and Weather

A bit warmer this morning at 46 but the last two mornings have been in the mid 30’s. Had to turn the furnace on yesterday. Maybe 70 today so it will be a nice early fall day. I was up at our place near the border yesterday and had perfect weather for my mowing as it had rained all night so I didn’t fear starting a wildfire if I hit a rock. But here at home my wife said it rained most of the day. Thank you!

Morning, was 65° when I got up. We got a good rain during the night. Predicted high in the liw 80's. Would be a good morning to chase some squirrels, but I won't.

Hopefully the last cold snap got here, currently 38 but feels like 32, no frost on the ground at daylight so summer veggies should survive.
Bit of a change from the 60 yesterday morning although that was about as warm as it got all day.
Forecast top in the mid 60s today and then warm up to mid 70s over the next couple of days and stay there for a week with overnight minimums in the mid to lower 40s. Some normal spring weather for us at last.

46 and cloudy with 60 something and a possibility of some sprinkles today. We have a nice weekend ahead and then a rainy week ahead. We had planned to head north on Monday but we’ll probable wait until around Thursday as the weather is supposed to take a turn for the better. Kind of a run around day ahead, dropping my wife off for a late breakfast with one of her former co-workers and then heading to Spokane Valley for some errands. Dog is going to dog camp today so he will have a good day.

I'm back. Well, this morning was a fine morning for a dog walk. It was a bit humid and 76 degrees out but not too bad. We're still in the mid and upper 90's for the high temperatures. Right now it's 88°with a really high pollen count. Most of it is ragweed, grass, and mold. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

well, its no longer a nameless storm .... as this is being typed Tropical Storm Ophelia is approximately 256 mi from our place .... its rain is expected to move in about an hour and a half from now .... beginning within the next hour there is a 55% chance we will get 1- 2" of rain with the probability of 4" or so falling down toward the coast .... steady winds 20+ mph and tropical-storm-force gusts of 40-60 mph will impact areas of eastern North Carolina

the eye of Tropical Storm Ophelia is still southeast of us but its wind and rain have been with us for hours .... scattered power outages are being reported over a wide area and TV news is showing trees down on homes and roads ..... biggest power outages are being reported northwest of us over near Durham ....Tornado warnings are popping up down east .... thankfully not widespread nor any areas of major damage .... 59 with a biting 18 mph wind .... predicted high of 63 with rain for most of today

46 with a very nice fall day on tap. High around 70 with sunshine. Then starting later tomorrow we have a series of minor disturbances coming in all week with light rain on and off. We had originally planned on leaving for “grouse camp ” on Monday but we’re going to postpone until Thursday or Friday. Starting Friday we’re looking at several of those perfect fall days with partly sunny and 60’s.

Today I’m heading over what’s called the Blanchard Hump to a golf course in Idaho (a grueling 25 minute drive). My brother had a timeshare condo there and has a big golf outing (read golf party) every year. 20 players this year, could be that a beer or two will be consumed. Looks to be a perfect day weather wise for the event.

Another warm day on tap today. We're supposed to set a record high today of 98°. At least we're not over 100°. I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast. My neighbor gave up on a magnolia tree and cut it down. A lot of trees are dying due to the lack of water and the magnolias seem to be susceptible to the drought a little worse than other types. I'm doing some work today.

Cooler Fall like temps next week now that that tropical storm moved on thru. We got about 3.5 inch of rain around our place yesterday.

A balmy 56 this morning with light rain when I got up a few hours ago. Now it’s 58 and the sun is peeking thru the clouds. A stormy week coming with some goods rains in the forecast. Not complaining about that! Probably around 66 today so a nice day to get outside and get some work done. Might finish piling limbs from previously cut down trees for winter burning. Also need to get some gutter heat tape installed on one section of my roof. Had problems last year with gutter ice dams causing water to overflow onto my patio making it dangerous for walking.

For those who don’t live in a winter climate this is what I’m talking about.

I have heat coils on the front and back roof along the gutters. Works pretty well.
We got around 3 inches of rain overnight which soaked right in. We have two stream
beds on our property that remain dry until it rains or from snow runoff and the woods
soaked up the rain so much that both are dry this morning with no evidence that there
was any flow at all.

Woke up early but it was 55 out there. A balmy morning indeed. Today’s high is 75 and starting tonight we have several days of rain ahead. Clearing up by the weekend. We were leaving today for grouse camp but postponed until Saturday when the weather gets nicer. Next week we expect no rain and highs in the 50 and 60’s and lows in the 40’s with sun on and off.

Got the heat tape on the roof yesterday so today I plan to cut down and up a few dead trees at the back of my place. Nothing very big. The tape also runs in the gutter and thru the downspout. Keeps the ice/snow melt running.
