Gunsmoke Today

Post by Cowboy Gun Fan » Fri Sep 22, 2023 2:37 pm

On Gunsmoke today, they mentioned the Henry 44, referring to the Model 1860. Now the time of the setting I would say to be roughly 1870 to 1875. Matt stated that the 44 (Rimfire) Ammo was no longer made. Wondering what year it was that they stopped the manufacture of them?

Wonder if they were any gaps in the manufacture of it or if it was continuously available in the US through all those years.

A question that's probably too hard to answer though, lol.

I wouldn't argue with Marshal Dillon. :)

This is an interesting article about pistol caliber rifles like the Henry .44 rimfire...

I have an original unfired Henry .44 rimfire cartridge I bought at a gun show. Here it is next to a 45 Colt.
