Did you know that canines are eligible for a flag to drape their coffins? Working military dogs and law enforcement canines are eligible.
As they risk their lives in service to the country, I feel this is definitely appropriate.

Interesting Veterans Day Information
There is, I think, humor here which does not translate well from English to sanity. - Sanya

Re: Interesting Veterans Day Information
There was an interesting show on PBS last night about Vietnam Veterans.
It was on the Montana and Spokane, WA stations. You should be able to see it online too. Most likely it was on other PBS stations across this country.
They had some beautiful dogs on that show, old footage, and two of the German Shepherds looked like my old, late GS dogs.
Our military dogs, peace officer dogs and search and rescue dogs are faithful servants to their masters and to our country. God bless all of them!

Yeah, police dog funerals.......is that a cross podium?

I don't think it does the dog much good, but It makes the handlers feel better, I'm sure.

I know that police and our RCMP are VERY dedicated to and fond of their horses, and are devastated when they lose them.

Good point, Sir H.Sir Henry wrote:Funerals are all about the living, not the deceased.
I guess once you receive the final sacrament of Last Rites, you've basically made your peace with the Lord.
At the funeral, there is a lot of holy water getting spashed around, and incense being burned, but the final sacrament has already been delivered by that time.
