Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
what a difference a day can make .... this morning dawned with a beautifully clear, Carolina Blue Sky .... no wind, no chance of rain .... 61 as this is being typed with a high of 81 predicted for later today .... highs in the 90's due to come back all tooooo soon .... biggest item on tap for today is setting our camper up as a standby emergency shelter .... that requires running a hose from our 500 gallon tank to the camper .... hauling trash and visiting a local farmer's market are also on tap
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
A very fresh 54 this morning with a predicted high of 81 and sunny. Had another really good rain last evening/night. That’s three good soakers in two days, thank you rain makers. Got lots of mowing and tree trimming done yesterday, it’s’ been too dry to run a chainsaw or mower in the brush. Also prepped two areas at the bottom of my place to burn limbs from all the dead trees I took out this spring. I’ll pile all the debris up and cover the piles with a tarp and wait for snow to burn as this is a pretty heavily treed area even after the thinning project I had done. I weed whacked a couple of 20’ diameter circles in the brush and will burn in the center.
Today is golf day and the weather will be perfect. Might be a little muggy with all the rain we got.

Currently it's 92°. Today's temperature won't exceed 100° for the first time in a while. There were only three days in August that we saw temperatures under 100°. It was the warmest August on record. It was also the driest. Houston measured a tenth of an inch of rain in August and in Sugar Land we did not get any rain. I think we're on our ninth of tenth week of no rain. I've lost track. I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
I just saw on the news that it's International Bacon Day today.
That should be everyday in my book. We get our bacon from a small country butcher shop
and it award winningly good.
Tomatoes are in season so BLTs are on the table quite often right now.
We love to wrap bacon around Jalapenos and grill them and then stuff with cream cheese.
(Cut the top off the pepper and using a carrot peeler clean out the inside of seeds and membranes.)
We get good beef hot dogs and wrap them with bacon to grill.
We have to lay bacon on top of baked beans for roasting.
Anybody else have ideas?

Just yesterday I had one of my favorite breakfasts, waffles with bacon and a fried egg on top with a splash of maple syrup. Yum.
Woke up to a nice fresh 52 this morning. So nice with the recent rains the smoke is mostly gone and everything is greener. Saw a picture of downtown Spokane on the local news this morning and I should have taken a picture to share. Beautiful trees with the leaves just starting to turn and the Spokane river peeking thru. Bright sunshine on all. Today we are warming up again with a high of 85 but tomorrow brings maybe some more light rain which is welcome.
Staying home today and completing some tree trimming I started the other day and mowing the way too long grass. Then at 4:00 PM my butt will be planted in my chair to watch the Washington State Cougars play their first football game of the season. Can’t wait.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
if the forecasters are correct and I hate to say it but I think they probably are, we have another streak of 6 consecutive days of 90+ degree temperature days set to begin tomorrow .... hopefully, for us, this will be summer's last hurrah ... its not unheard of but sure ain't common for us to have so many very hot days with no thunderstorms mentioned ....

A nice couple from North Dakota stopped in and drove the old motorhome last evening. They seem interested.
I hope they buy it. I liked them.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
well, the bad weather related news this morning is the forecasted extreme temps kicks in today .... the good news is changes in daily forecast have reduced the number of very hot days has been reduced from 6 to 3 .... that said the 3 days with lower temps are still north of 90 degrees
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
71 this morning and clear. Heading towards 90's again today and next week.
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
A sticky 60 when I got up this morning with a heavy cloud cover bringing the humidity up. That’s fine, yesterday there was another wildfire just south of the Spokane Valley very near a community of very upscale homes. Thankfully with the air support of the Fire Boss planes and the lack of wind the firefighters knocked it down pretty quickly. Regardless there were Level 3 (go now!) evacuations that must have shaken the folks involved especially after all the homes destroyed recently. High today of 80 or so and a 20% chance of rain.
Spent the day yesterday doing a major trimming (or brutal pruning as my wife and I like to call it) of a big patch of Hawthorn bushes yesterday. These mothers have 1” thorns and there’s no way to avoid them. Planning on finishing up today.

Labor Day: Sunny and hot, with a high near 95. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 76. South wind 10 to 15 mph.
We have the family gang coming out today for swimming, visiting, brats and burghers.
Carol has already made her wonderful potato salad, (which I love), and we're getting set up.
It's gonna be a hot one but should be fun.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
we awoke to a beautiful morning on what is forecasted to be the first day of our (hopefully) last streak of 90 or above days for this summer .... 76 right now on its way to 74 (RealFeel 100) .... before the full heat gets here we hope to pretty well finish moving stuff from our camper back into our home/garage ... that requires a short walk which doesn't feel all that short in high heat and humidity
Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
58 with partially cloudy skies and a high in the upper 60’s to 70. A wonderful week ahead with sun and temps in the 70’s. Just about perfect in my opinion. Had another nice rain shower last evening, it’s very fresh outside.
Today several neighbors are getting together for a potluck. Looks like lots of great food and some good company. My poor wife is having a colonoscopy tomorrow so she can only watch me enjoy the food. Sorry.
