Re: SHTF today........
Latest update.... The dumb a#### at Richmond Distribution sent my gun 2 hours North to Dulles Va. Distribution Center at 1:00 AM this morning Wednesday. And now on the way to it's destination where ever that is! I hope it is down here at my local P.O. which was only 30 miles South of Richmond! At least it is moving to someplace!

Maybe the box will come covered with stickers like the old steamer trunks in the old movies from the 50s and 60s..

I was lucky to find the phone number of that Regional Center this mornng and lady said it is being processed for trip back down 95 to Richmond. Now where the clowns there send it this time who knows?

Re: SHTF today........
I got a notification from Mid South Shooter’s Supply via FedEx tracking that some reloading dies I bought had been delivered today. Came with a picture of the box sitting in my neighbor’s shed at the end of our driveway. That shed has the neighbor’s address on the outside of it, with a printed message on the inside that states to NOT deliver packages in the shed, and leave them at their residence, about 100 yds. away. The “incorrect” address and the notice to NOT leave packages there were plainly visible in the photo, along with the package. Sheesh.
I’m guessin’ the requirements/standards to be a delivery driver have been lowered a good bit????
I once bought a motorcycle part from a vendor in SoCal, to be delivered by the USPS. The tracking showed it went right past me and up to Seattle, then somewhere in Montana, then to nearby Portland (25 miles or so from where I live, I guess), then went to Guam! I can’t recall the exact route it took to finally get to my house, but it eventually made it here. That goofy part had been to more “exotic” places in a month than I’d been to in the last 10 years.
I hope you have a similar outcome with your package, and that it makes it to you soon, Forty!

Re: SHTF today........
I ordered a rear sight for a 1911 I bought recently and had discovered the rear sight was loose in the dovetail. I called my local gunshop and she told me they use a gunsmith an hour and ten minutes away. (Says something about the local talent) I called and asked and he said he'd be happy to do the job. I could ship the slide if I liked and he promised a quick turnaround, simple job. SHIP the slide? If I drove it down on a day you had some time, could I wait, or go get lunch and piddle around until it was done, then come back and pick it up? Sure if you don't mind the drive. I don't mind the drive, I do mind losing the slide shipping it down and back. He laughed, "Come on down tomorrow, I'll knock it out."

Re: SHTF today........
USPS sucks and I refuse to use them. Twice I have bought MO from them and mailed them to people I have bought stuff from. Twice they have been lost in the mail. Go figure. Wait 60 days for them to show up. When they don’t show like both of mine did you pay a fee to file a claim to get your money back which then takes another 30 days. Why do I need to pay a fee to get my money back that you lost. Never again if the guy selling something won’t take my check or Credit Card he can keep it

Re: SHTF today........
I've had similar experiences as Jimmie with FedEx, DHL and others. Stuff getting delivered to the shed aways down the private drive multiple times, despite sign that says to take deliveries to the house. Never a problem so far with USPS and UPS getting stuff to the front porch.
Now I did have a problems UPS/USPS Surepost. This where the package starts out being shipped through UPS with final delivery made by the USPS. Problem here tracking was showing the packages getting to the local UPS distribution center, about 11 miles from here, then being handed over to the USPS where it went to Bellevue WA, hundreds of miles from here. After complaining to UPS about this, they now mostly deliver themselves, ignoring the Surepost routing.
Hoping the best for you real soon Forty.

Re: SHTF today........
Well here we are at Day 13 of the USPS black hole that sucks packages in but can't escape. Latest info... the gun shop/range I use for FFL is part of another business the family owns which is based in a small town in little Dillwyn, Va. The gun shop is just couple miles away in my city which is the address it was supposed to ship to. Some how the address got changed to the business address in Dillwyn about 1 1/2 hour drive West of me.
That is where it is supposed to go now and hopefully the shop owner who I think lives out there will bring to the gun shop here.
Far as I know it was sent back to Richmond Center and will sit there for a while until shipped to that local P.O. for delivery.
So far the tracking shows nothing but "It's on the way" ! Both the shop I bought it from and the FFL pickup don't open on Monday so will contact both to confirm who changed the address. I told the person in Dillwyn I would drive there to do the paperwork but nooooo it has to be done at the gun shop.
So what have I learned..... No more gun purchases from online sales. ABSOLUTELY no more use of the USPS. Only purchase in person at shops or gun shows IF I intend to buy anything else.
Another thing don't contact the USPS Help Center for any info on a late or lost package as they know nothing more than you do. I found all my info by contacting the local Postal locations and tracking down local businesses by address. Found out more info in 30 minutes than the "Help" Center in 4 days!
For example while speaking with the latest woman at the Help Center she could see the shipping address on my package which she said was different than what I had. BUT she would not tell me because she did not know if it was me on the phone. So I called the Dulles Distribution Center and the guy happily gave me the info. Then I called that local P.O. and worked back from there.

Re: SHTF today........
What a nightmare! As stated in a earlier post I never received a jeweler's lathe I purchased off eBay. Ebay did refund my money but I don't know if the seller was just out the expense or what. I never sell anything on eBay any longer but do purchase items from time to time that aren't that expensive. I always ship UPS these days.

Re: SHTF today........
The seller put the mailing address of the FFL on the package and not the location of the gun shop which is different. Problem is if something has to be delivered there it has to be that store location. Of course not using the gun shop for FFL any longer. I knew the guy that ran the shop but now since his sudden passing last year it is not the same.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 10:28 amWhat a nightmare! Re: SHTF today........
You could always call one of those useless TURDS they call congressmen to see if they will get off their dead butts and help.
I love my country but I fear my government
Re: SHTF today........
Forty you are going through exactly what I have gone through in the past. Try getting your money back from a lost MO. If a seller says USPS MO for payment I wont even do business with them. Check or CC. Have you tried talking to the shipper to see if they will assist you? Many times they can do more than you can. Id tell the gun shoppe you bought it from that you will contest the charge on your credit card if this isnt fixed. If you paid that way

Re: SHTF today........
I'm sticking with this thing until I get or find out who stole what I paid for. Firearms DO NOT get lost. I now have the local ATF office working on this case with me. Agent told me it should arrive at that Post Office it was shipped to by today Friday or Saturday. If not let him know on Monday.
If no sight of it by Monday I will consider it "Lost" and the ATF will go on the hunt to recover. I do have the serial number of it so if it pops up someplace other than my hands it will be taken care of.

Re: SHTF today........
Good that you’re getting some support from the ATF. This has been a sad but interesting story.
