Re: I need a garage/barn
My gravel was delivered but I wanted to see how the RV would look inside so I parked it next to the port so I could still work on the floor. I think all my measurements were accurate and it will fit as planned.

Looks great. The only thing you "may" want to consider is complete Sides. I had a 20 X 21 built back in '04 and before they left, I was pretty convinced that I wanted Sides and Gables. I went out the next day to check out the shade of it and it was off in the woods somewhere. No shade at all on the inside. They came back a week or two later and installed both. Although the front and back are still open, it made a big difference. Of course, it also helps keep out the rain and snow. But, depending on your wind direction may make a difference. The wind goes directly from the front to back on mine. The partial sides you do have will help though.

One more reminder, but I'm sure you have that already covered. Put Stop Blocks behind your Rear Wheels to prevent you from backing up too far.

Re: I need a garage/barn
I leveled the gravel enough to back the RV into it. I’ll need to pull it out at some point to make it more level and to wash the gravel off.
It took me several tries to get it the perfect distance from the side. The slide when out is about two inches from the wall. The door side of the RV has about five feet to the wall. Enough that I can store stuff and get to the basement. I’m hoping to landscape it next spring. I still have the power line and propane to connect.

The wind will mostly be from the back and driver side. I expect some snow to enter. It’s the roof that I want to protect the most. With open sides I can enjoy the view where it’s at. This is going to be a guest bedroom.Cowboy Gun Fan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 12:16 pmLooks great. The only thing you "may" want to consider is complete Sides. It has a backup camera plus I’m not afraid to get out and look a few times. I think I got out a dozen times and measured.Cowboy Gun Fan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 12:20 pmOne more reminder, but I'm sure you have that already covered. I hope I am wrong but it looks to me like you will be collecting snow. Perhaps some rolling panels like a barn door that you could open up when you wanted the view would work. I like the looks of it and had planned on getting a carport until I got to pricing all the additions like the snow load bearing I need and I think I can stick build one for the same price if I hurry before lumber goes up again.

Re: I need a garage/barn
Undoubtedly it will collect some snow which will be part of the winter charm. The important thing is no snow will reach the roof to melt and freeze. Also it will be getting less direct sun.Ernie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 8:19 pmI hope I am wrong but it looks to me like you will be collecting snow. I think that new Ford van might be jealous now because he doesn’t have a house

Next year. I may order some fill this fall and level it so it has a winter to settle.

Looks great Sir Henry, especially the distance shot with the house included. The new shelter fits in nicely.

Re: I need a garage/barn
It will look even nicer with these rocks lining the bottom of the dirt and flowers growing.

Those are some good sized rocks. How will you move them? The bigger ones look too big for your front end loader to pick up.

Re: I need a garage/barn
My tractor is rated at 1,900 pounds. I’m guessing some of the rocks are bigger than that. If needed I may just roll them. If that doesn’t work a neighbor has a bigger Ford and if that doesn’t work he also has a D8 Cat.

Re: I need a garage/barn
I ordered more rock. This time they are 12-18” instead of 18-24”. I also bought some nice Vietnamese pots.
Additionally I’m getting an estimate on a 20/30/50 RV electrical post. This place is really starting to come together.

Re: I need a garage/barn
I’m getting the RVport wired today. Currently I’m running a 30 amp 110v extension cord plus two 15 amp cords to it. I’m having a 100 amp (20/30/50) rv outlet installed inside the shed. It will be both 110 and 220 volts. The motor home takes a 50 amp 220. The extra 15 and 30 plug ins will be for outside lights and such. Here is the current post.
I’m leaving the 30 amp on the wood post there mainly because it’s already there.
It’s taken me about a month to move the rocks into place

That’s beautiful Gene, almost like a contemporary Norman Rockwell painting. Well done, the boulders look great.

Re: I need a garage/barn
Thanks. It really does look nice from the road. I’ve had several neighbors stop and tell me I did a great job.
