Is your wife still close to her siblings?
yes she is .... she is the oldest of 7 children, 4 boys & 3 girls .... the boy next to was in Vietnam where he drove dozers into the forest after they were sprayed with Agent Orange .... his wife, children, and grandchildren still maintain close ties with the rest of the family

71 on its way to 90 later this afternoon .... we are scheduled to leave for home on August 18th and today is the only one forecasted to reach 90 .... most days we have left here are predicted to be in the mid 70's ..Smile :).. the local school football started practice this morning .... as a team they are small but spirited .... to add to out things we need to take care of before we leave for home list, we are exploring putting a lot we own out here on the market .... while we are in no hurry to sell it, we are a bit rushed in taking care of the preliminaries to getting it on the market ....

following a rain storm moving through around midnight, we awoke to a very humid, overcast morning .... its already up to 74 which is forecasted to be the high for today .... thunderstorms are shown on local radar with a very large cell off to our northwest .... thunderstorms are supposed to move out shortly after noon giving us about 5 hours before they move back in .... my biggest project for today is precooking several items tomorrow's Frogmore ....

I'm happy to report that we were able to get the Frogmore worked in between rainy spells .... we had a good crowd and thoroughly enjoyed it .... the only remaining item on our family get-togethers list for this trip is a wine tasting for the ladies .... I believe that it is scheduled for this coming week .... speaking of rain, we got about 4" .... just west of us in De Smit they ended up with just over 10" .... for the farmers around here, the rain will ensure putting large ears on the corn stalks

Happy the local farmers are getting the rain. Saw a report yesterday from our local fruit and veggie community and the corn was only about 2-3’ high. We sure could use some rain up there.

all toooo well understood .... back home right now its 90 degrees with a RealFeel of 102 .... here in Estelline, SD right now it is 78 with a RealFeel of 81 .... unless there is a break in the heat, we aren't looking forward to getting back to oven at home

late yesterday a strong storm that dumped an inch of rain in the firs ten minutes caused a 10+ hr outage back home .... high temps and humidity made that outage miserable .... the new county school superintendent got off to a really rocky start .... in spite of 8 schools in our area not having power, the new superintendent neglected to delay or cancel schools .... busses were dropping off students at schools with no power .... at one of our grandson's elementary school, the staff had to keep the students out on the playground because their school was hot and dark .... currently 67 here with an afternoon high predicted to be 81

59 this morning here in Estelline, SD with a projected high of 82 .... contrast that with 76 at home on its way to 90 later today back home in Central NC .... thunderstorms tomorrow mentioned in the forecast for both areas .... tested our truck/camper tire pressure monitoring system yesterday .... need to replace several sensor batteries today .... with us scheduled to leave Estelline next week on Friday morning, we plan to slowly begin the process of getting ready to get back on the road

Sitting at 101° at the moment (5 p.m.) I guess I may need to find a place to summer up North.

Most of Texas is looking pretty miserable right now. We are having a short cooler spell but supposed to be back in the mid/upper 90's soon. This Summer has been a little bit cooler than the previous 2 Summers when we had many 100⁰ plus days.

overnight rain left puddles and the grass proved to be very wet for puppy walking .... right now 83 with a RealFeel of 104 back home .... its supposed to get up to get up to 96 later today with a chance of thunderstorms .... 64 with a RealFeel of 64 Smile :D right now here in Estelline, SD .... it is predicted that it will only get up to 67 with the RealFeel staying at 64 .... don't know if that drop constitutes Wind Chill or not Wink ;) .... chance of thunderstorms today with tomorrow being pretty much a washout

We're starting the sixth week without any rain. Things look mighty bleak around here. Grass is dying, ground is cracking, I don't know what the toll will be on area crops.
