100 yd Flintlock Shootin’

Post by RanchRoper » Thu Jul 20, 2023 1:45 pm

Been awhile since I posted a report. Shoot mostly steel these days. But this morning trying to dial in at 100 yds better. Tend to pull right often. This is an 8” target. Making corrections as I go.

60 grains 3F
.015 patch
.480 lead ball

Ya that’s all me, nothing wrong with the rifle. I shoot the caplock better than the flinter.

Makes two of us. Im alot better with the capper but at 100 yards Id still be lucky to do that good. I havent even sent a ball down range yet this year. Ive been shooting more pistols and 22LR lately. The weather here with as wet as it has been has really messed up shooting much. I hope to change the roundball shooting though in Aug and Sept.

That's good shooting with a flintlock. I like my flintlocks and used to shoot them all the time but haven't had one out in over 2 years now. The old heart just doesn't work like it use to.

If I nailed that target to a tree and tried to hit it at 100 there would be a good pile of splinters and a fresh target for another day!
Great shootin' RR !
