Today was range day where I shot a S&W 617 and a Winchester M74 with a 4X Weaver. Both were very accurate especially the M74 with Federal Auto-Match. I could hit a 2” spinner at 50’ every time. My friends grandfather bought this rifle new in 1941 so he is the second owner.

The S&W was also accurate but not in my hands.

We were shooting at a free county run range. They even haul away all the shot up tv’s and such for free. Alaskans are a different breed of animal and will throw garbage everywhere and anywhere. By allowing anyone to shoot and leave anything they can pick up all the junk in one place.

I’ve been in Alaska since June 29th and leave July 13th. You can read about the trip here:

Glad you are getting a chance to shoot. Sorry the pics didn't come thru.
Hope the rest of the trip goes well. Alaska was always somewhere I wanted to visit, but never got to see.

by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Yup, looks great.

I noticed you posted about folks tossing trash everywhere. I had been a fan of the Alaska State Troopers series. I noticed that when I watched the show. They live in a beautiful area, one of the few unspoiled areas left in the country, but disrespect it at every turn.

That is a big problem up here. My friend lives in military housing off base and it’s clean like an Army base. Yet if you get off it there is not very many nice houses. In the country people will dump junk anywhere even next to a million dollar house.

That behavior seems to run in country places. Some folks just don't seem to care while the vast majority do. Makes some places look trashy.

Awesome that the local government will provide a shooting range. Too bad that the local’s spoil it and the other areas you mentioned. Sad.

Doubt you'll see much of that littering and dumping just across the border in Canada. On my trips to Canada, one of the first things I notice when crossing the border is how free of litter the countryside is. Canada seems to have a very serious attitude about littering and people who do it.

It really is a nice looking rifle. It shows lots of wear but no abuse. It has always been taken care of and shoots straight.
