Our Morning Coffee and Weather

It's another hot week coming up. Yesterday we were in a heat advisory and I think we'll be there all week again. Right now it's 90° and we're supposed to get up to 98° with a "feels like" of 111° this afternoon. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

Just got back from a road trip to Friona, TX USA. The wife and I had a great time at some of our friends house there. I shot a bunch of skeet and we slapped some steel around with the 22's. Back home now and the dogs let us know about leaving them behind

Well you might. Our friends that we visited last year spend the Winter down at Aransas Pass and we just
might stop in there. He's a very old friend who's had a stroke but recovering well now.

Hooray, we got half an inch of rain last night. We're still in a drought, but that helps.
I'll be mowing and doing yard work this morning as we leave tomorrow or Thursday for the Winnebago'
Grand National Rally and we'll be gone about ten days.

60’s the next few days. Rained last night. Off to Stampede again tomorrow with the wife to see the stock dog competition and Blackfoot Confederacy Powwow. If you’ve never been to a powwow these folks sing and dance up a storm! Costumes are unbelievable too. Great fun.

Another hot one on tap for today. Got lots of work to do since it's summer. Everyone bringing their instruments in to get ready for summer marching practice which begins in a couple of weeks. I just had cereal, strawberries, and coffee for breakfast.

It’s a wonderful 56 out there with a light rain falling. We had the thunderstorms yesterday as predicted but thankfully right here anyway we got some substantial rain. I was driving the motorhome home from the dealers and the water was running down the road like a river. Got home and a few hours later we got another storm. We had dime sized hail probably the largest hail this northern boy has ever seen. Why did this have to happen in the short spell I had the motorhome outside and not under cover. Oh well, no visible damage anyway.

With all this rain today I’m going to mow all the areas I don’t water which are generally too dry to mow. Get er’ done now!

56 now and looking at 87 later. Hot this weekend with upper 90’s but cooling down somewhat next week. For that I’m thankful as we’re leaving Monday for several days at the lake. We should see mid to upper 80’s, still too warm but better than 90’s.

Well, you've got me thinking.

Southern Oaks and Reel Chill are newer parks. They are not right on the water but they are nice parks. Southern Oaks also has a private section in the back where lots are bought but you can rent in there by getting a hold of the lot owners. City of Port A owns the IB McGee park close to the beach. They have made huge improvements there and have a waiting list to show for it.

It got up to 100° yesterday and today is another hot one for sure. Got out and got my haircut this morning (both of them). I just had cereal and coffee for breakfast. Later,

I heard the hail warning on the radio on my way to town but didn't see any dark clouds to the East so finished my errands. Never made it this far west, in all my life here I've never seen hail bigger than BB's. We did have some thunderstorms a couple of days ago but not enough rain to really get the ground wet.

I got out early to do some key buffing this morning. My buffer is in the garage and it gets pretty steamy out there in this heat, so I try to get out as early as possible. I just had some cereal, strawberries, and coffee for breakfast. Right now it's 97° and supposed to get to over 100° today. (Edit: It got up to 101°.)

No breakfast yet. Got up fairly early (9:00 for me is early) to weed eat our irrigation ditch. It almost always has water in it so it can get pretty overgrown. Hot today and supposed to hit 100 this weekend but was only low 80's when I started and a good portion of the ditch is shady in the morning. I can't take the heat anymore, when it gets in the 90's going out and moving 1 sprinkler is about my limit of outdoor activity.

We're not far from home so the weather is the same here although it's been thunderstorms all
afternoon.
We got here last evening after encountering traffic delays and bridge outages from all the rain they
got here a couple of days ago. The Rally hasn't officially started, but we came early to work out the
bugs in the new RV. Things are going well. It will be a small crowd this year, only 685 units registered.
There may be some late comers however. One year prior to covid they had over 1500.
Well, happy hour and the parties are on, so see you tomorrow.
