Back from the storm....!

Post by fortyshooter » Sat Jun 17, 2023 12:29 pm

We got hit hard in our city by a strong line of storms yesterday afternoon. Power still out in half the town and I was one of few that only lost it for about 10 minutes after storm passed but the Generac covered that. 60-70 MPH winds hard rain and hail for 15-20 minutes like nothing I have seen in a while brought a lot of trees down in our neighborhood and area. Some thru roofs and on cars these mostly large oak trees and a few pines. Got lucky this time as I escaped any tree damage but it is all around me.
Comcast keeping the signal feed going with small portable generator at several pole locations until full power is up this evening with several new power line poles having to be replaced. During the storm you couldn't see out your windows with the straight line rain and hail plus windows fogging up due to sudden temp drop. It was wild and weird thing is the top on my post lamp which would usually blow off stayed put this time while heavy garbage containers were thrown around!

It's so dry here I went to pee in the woods and the trees were waving their branches to come to them.
Alas, I am only one man.

We used to get storms but the last couple of years have been very dry. Not sure why.
Maybe I'll email Al Gore and ask. Oopps, kinda political.

Glad it wasn't any worse. It got us late Wednesday afternoon about 6:00. Been storming most all week. We were without power only 24 hours but there's people close still don't have it. I been using a chainsaw last 3 days now. Living out in the country, we have to do most of our own road clearing.

Wow. You got hit hard. We heard that storm go just south of us. We just got a few sprinkles. Friends that live 8 miles south had heavy rain, wind and hail. It seems these storms were a small line that caused problems where they passed over, but nothing outside their paths.

Got some rain Tuesday night. First we have had in three weeks and none in the forecast for the next 10 days. Would like to see some but not with the intensity that you got Forty.

Was out at the Back Door lounge area cooking us up some burgers and looking around at a couple large oaks that went down across the street.
Then I happened to look up and see oak leaves and branches in the top of two of my tall pine trees. Yeah that was a wild one how it picked where to hit
within 60 yds. around! All back to normal now.

Glad all is good Forty. I don't think I could make it to Va. to help. I've about helped out. At least for a couple days. No use in me pretending, that chainsaw has whooped me.
