What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
I loaded a mix of 200 rounds of 38spl and 38 spl +p using be 86.. I'll chrono and accuracy test. These are for my revolvers and henry. So, i'm trying to find a sweet spot.
I used eveeything from 125's up to 165grain loads.
I also loaded 105 rounds of 357mag using be86 and many of the same bullets (jacketed, plated or gass checked).
I tried a couple new gas checked ones from matts. :
125 spire point gc
130 grn round flat point gc
165 swc gc
We shall see how be 86 does with them.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Just loaded enough for some time at the range. 20 rounds of 44 Mag for the carbine - 10 with 24.1 gr. of H110 under 240 gr. XTP and 10 with 21.7 gr. of Enforcer with the same XTP bullet. Both loads pretty equal with groups, but the H110 gives me about100 fps more and more energy. With the Enforcer I don't use a magnum primer, it measures nicely, it's clean (no static cling like H110), so I load it and it rings the gong just as well as the H110! (But I'll go with the H110 for hunting).
Also put together 30 rounds of 7mm-08 Rem. with 45.3 gr. of IMR 4350 under 120 gr. Nosler BT. That load is regularly 1 m.o.a. and sometimes less if the cigar smoke doesn't get in my eyes!

Today's projected chrono and accuracy work.

I'll be using my Dan Wesson. 715 today.

Grouse, that’s a lot of work displayed there. Both the loading and the data records.
Fun isn’t it?

Vacquero,
What rifle do you have for the 25-20s?
[/quote]
It's an old 1892 Winchester.
Made around 1912 or '13.
It's the one on the right.

Yeah, I've got a range report to right up. The DW 715 was pleasant to shoot. I was able to chronograph everything and even had enough fun rounds to enjoy my steel plates. The guns' a mess, more than 500 rounds down the pipe.

Loaded up some 160 gr. wadcutters from an old discontinued Lyman mold #358432. I wasn't as impressed with this bullet and had mostly settled on using the RCBS 148 gr. WC for most of my shooting. I was thinking about selling this one until I tried it in this Model 67 .38 spl. Loaded over 4.7 gr. of BE86 with Win SP primers the .38 shot little clusters at 25 yards. I'm thinking that 162 gr with a flat nose at 900 fps should make a potent .38 load without abusing the K-frame.

I had excellent results with 4.6 grains and 165 swc5shot wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 10:58 pmLoaded up some 160 gr. wadcutters from an old discontinued Lyman mold #358432.
