Testing some new target hangers for the steel today.

Post by fortyshooter » Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:24 pm

Had to mow the grass around the range today so I also brought along my 4 new hangers I made for the soccer frame target to see how they work.
The gun today was my 1872 OT setup for 38 Special and also brought my Springfield XDE 45 that has been resting for a while.
The XDE fired off 7 rounds without a hitch without any cleaning or lubing since I put it away. Will rotate it back into my CCW as before.
The hangers worked great and the 38 Special Open Top was better on target after filing a bit off the front sight as it was shooting low.

Yeah I think they will work okay. Have to try my 45-70 on it and see how much they swing!

The soccer goal frame was a freebie from the city parks & rec as they were throwing some old ones away. This is the smaller Jr. frame.
Hooks easy to make with a 1 inch wide piece of schedule 80 2.5 inch pipe I believe it was. The frame tube is 1.5 OD and the rod is 3/8ths steel rod.
A little rod bending in a large vice with a little hammering plus drill a 3/8th hole in the section of pipe with a bit of welding.
