Range Day With a BL22

Post by Jdl447 » Fri Nov 04, 2016 2:45 pm

Took the Browning 22 Lever to the range for its 40th birthday. Hard to believe I've had it that long. Still a shooter at 50 yrds.

That gun looks as good as if it was made yesterday. The wood is beautiful. Thanks for the pics and the story. Very cool. Happy Birthday, BL22.

Beautiful wood on that stock and forearm; most enjoyable part of a rifle for me to look at!!
[And that wood shooting bench looks cool, too]. Agreed -- that 40-year-old is definitely a shooter. ;)

I can't quite tell, Jdl, but is your scope a Weaver? Nice straight lines, and it looks very good on your rifle.

Nice rifle and shooting. I was going to ask the same question about the scope.

Nice looking rifle. So what does it want to be when it grows up, a .357 mag? :D

Naw, a .450 Marlin
Although I would take a B92 in .357 mag.

The Bushnell Custom scopes were pretty popular at one time. They were a nice scope on a 22 being the right size to not look out of place. There is still quite a few at the local gun shows but a lot of times they are missing the mount that goes with them. I have a perfect condition one in my collection of scopes that has the mount with it. These scopes may have also been offered in a 2 1/2 power. The ones I have had and seen at shows didn't have the elevation adjustment like pictured on this one and had the screw on caps over the adjusters. They can be bought in the $40 range in like new condition around here. Well worth what they sell for.

The browning is a beautiful piece of work. I can't consider a lever action .22 collection complete without a Browning, Marlin "Mountie" and a Winchester 9422.

Nice rifle. Without going through a lot of old paperwork I would say my Winchester 9422M XTR is about the same age. You just gave me the bug to take it to the range next trip. Thanks.

Browning BL 22 rifles are really nice rifles.

I had one in the past and I bought it in the late 90's in my former state.

Good shooting to you and thank you for sharing.

I just think Browning is cool, like John Browning.

I swear, the very next firearm I get will be a Buckmark :D
