40 S&W PC Carbine
40 S&W PC Carbine
Went to the range today with my PC in 40. Also took along the RI 40 and the Ruger 357 with some MCB 140gr bullets. I didnt get a pic with the 140's but I can tell you they hit pretty hard on the steel and they are not to bad accuracy wise at 15 yards with the Blackhawk. One thing I will say about them is they are real comfortable to shoot with 6.5 grains of Unique. I tried pushing it to 7 but then the group started to open up. 6.5 has plenty of spunk. Got the RI in 40 kinda dialed in but I need to work with it some more. It didnt care for the HS-6 powder like the PC did. I have some 231 and I may give that a try. I did get a couple of really nice 4 shot groups with the PC. Got a pic of one. 180gr Xtreme FP
Hole at 6 oclock below the red dot is from another round.
The Ruger shoots pretty darn good. Had another load with 165gr HP xtreme that shot as well. Just a comment on the 140's. I will be buying more as I really like the way they shoot. Even better than the 158. Its a good mid weight bullet for 357 in my opinion. If you have thought about trying some. Getcha sum I dont think you will be disappointed.

Re: 40 S&W PC Carbine
People crap on the 40, but I'm a fan. It isn't the be-all and end-all, but it is consistent and fun. I've a number of pistols in 40, and a Kriss Vector 8" SBR that is a hoot to shoot. Some of the 155 or even 165's out of the 8-inch barrel can pick up some decent speed. Thought with a can, i prefer the standard 180 at about 950 fps.

Im a fan to and as long as they keep thumbing their nose at this round I get good deals on brass and even loaded ammo. I have a S&W MP RI 1911 and the PC Carbine. That PC is a hoot to shoot.DsGrouse wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 10:45 pmPeople crap on the 40, but I'm a fan. It isn't the be-all and end-all, but it is consistent and fun. Can't complain about that. Nice shooting!

During the pandemic, when 38,9mm,45,223/556 were all gone, i bought 4/cases of 40sw for 299 each. Same price i was paying prior to the great cough. Even now the i find it at about 330, a 30$ increase, where the cheapest 9mm is 229, a 55 dollar increase per case.

Nice shooting carbine Al ! Only SW 40 I had was my ol Glock 23 that I sold off but the 40 does get the job done. Haven't tried 140 gr. bullets in my 357 revolvers but may try them at some point. Wonder how they do in 38 Special? Getting low on my MB 158's and might try some 140's.

I've found these to exceptional in my big boy x, and in my two smiths.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 9:12 amNice shooting carbine Al ! I keep them at about 1025 in the henry. BE-86 or Clean shot seems to drive them nicely.
Re: 40 S&W PC Carbine
Im betting the 140's would do great in the 38 Sp. DeGrouse those Matts bullets are some great bullets. I have used his bullets in the past and he does a nice job.

Truth. When all else was gone .40 remained. Made me love my P229 all that much more.DsGrouse wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 7:30 amDuring the pandemic, when 38,9mm,45,223/556 were all gone, i bought 4/cases of 40sw for 299 each.
