VN era first aid kit

Digging around in some of my old stuff and found this kit. Y'all old dogs might remember these. I threw out some of the stuff that was in it - old bandaids, some pills, etc. Kept the iodine tabs and ammonia capsules. Other stuff I kept is mostly labeled there's also a tourniquet, mosquito net, caffeine tabs, a wrist compass, etc. Cleaned it up some and oiled the zipper. I'll likely refill the bandaids and a few other things with new stuff.

Don't recall exactly where or when I liberated this, but probably sometime between 1965 and 1972.

It should have the maker and date stamped on it. Most likely under the flap or on the bottom. I carried the smaller individual kit.

Only dates I could find were on the ammonia and iodine, '71 and '72, so I apparently liberated this sometime in the early to mid '70s.

I just picked up a couple at CVS, they were $16.00+ and CVS was blowing them out for $4.27 because of the expiration date.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING. The word, [in the '60s] in Vietnam, was "caffeine pills" was code for amphetamines. They were pretty lightweight, not the heavy duties ones that our fathers used in World War Two, but still enough to get you busted if you were an interstate truck driver . . .
