Our Morning Coffee and Weather

I had three neighbors over yesterday and we played cards most of the day. The wind howled all day and the three long time residents were astonished at how much wind I get. One lives a quarter mile away and she says she seldom gets the wind like I get often.

The rolling hills turns the surface wind in many directions all at once. On the windward and leeward sides of cars and buildings the snow can almost bury them or totally expose them. On the uphill side of my garage the wind blows from the west yet the downhill side it blows from the south. That side of the garage had snow almost up to the eves even though it only went out ten feet.

Several times I’ve had lightning and snow when it was below freezing. I’ve never even as a mountaineer experienced that before.

The previous owners who are 85 years old moved because of the wind and snow. Funny thing is they didn’t move far and are now my neighbors. They were snowed in one year and it took the county with a huge front loader to dig them out. I had another neighbor with a D7 cat dig me out this last snowstorm. Living here is like living in heaven but with a little bit of hell thrown in.

This is my first complete winter here and even though the calendar says spring it’s very much still winter. All my targets are covered in snow and I haven’t shot in about two weeks.

Same here and equally important by Sunday the lows will be above freezing.

BRM, your pictures are incredible but troubling too. Looks like a lot of work on tap to remove some of that white “stuff”.

Here it’s a brisk 19 with sunshine. Playing golf today and with the heave overnight frost I expect we will be delayed at least an hour. Course won’t let players on the greens until the frost melts as walking on them will damage the grass. Bummer.

My barber told me you make your choice and live with it. I asked her if that was about choosing a wife or place to live! Anyway, she thought it was funny. It's 78° and rain is expected soon. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast.

I think I’ll position it so it breaks the wind from drifting across my driveway. It took a D7 cat to dig 18” of snow that had drifted to several feet.

Foggy and 66 degrees this morning, heading to high 80’s again. Gonna be mostly cloudy with chance of scattered showers. Was planning to kick off the first official grass cutting for this year, but with scattered showers in forecast, will have to see how it goes.

25 heading to the 40’s somewhere with partly cloudy skies. It’s supposed to be nice today, rainy and cold tomorrow, nice again on Saturday and cold and rainy for Easter Sunday. A bit of a roller coaster ride.

Played golf yesterday but I should have stayed home and worked on projects. It was cold, windy, cloudy and generally not a good day to play golf. While the temperature was in the 40’s somewhere it had to be in the mid to low 30’s windchill. Not pleasant. Today I’m going to be smarter and stay home and cut up trees.

It was 56° with the cold front moving through and has only warmed to 59° at about 10 a.m. local time. We've got a lot of rain ahead of us over the next two days. The weather people like to exaggerate but say we may receive up to 12 inches of rain over the next two days. They always like to give the worst case scenario as to keep interest in the news. I just had cereal and coffee this morning.

its already 78 on its way to 85 .... partly cloudy now but considerable cloudiness with a couple of showers and thunderstorms moving in overnight .... the thunderstorms can bring hail and damaging winds .... this front is bringing in much cooler and wetter for the next few days .... they day tomorrow's high will be 63 and the day after 49 .... with the chance of rain over the next couple of days being well over 90% we decided to haul off our trash today .... decisions, decisions .... such is often the state of our retirement ....

82 and partly cloudy heading to 86, yesterday was really nice rode the V star to Charlotte to look at a Harley but they forgot to mention it had been dropped .. On the 31st we planted zucchini and we have sprouts already. Also planted peas tomatoes and herbs, planting watermelon soon and a few peach trees. Gizmo is standing watch.

The TV weather guesser said this morning that we won't see temps this cold again until next
Fall. Tomorrow should be in the 60s, and next week in the 70s.

We ran a lot of errands yesterday including getting 8 bags of salt for the softener, groceries,
and last night our farmer friend delivered a quarter of beef that he raised and grained out.
Today I'll wash windows and help clean. Easter Sunday is a special day in our home as all the'
kids and their families come for an Easter Egg Hunt and then dinner. Some of them we haven't
seen since Christmas.

61 degrees and that's as warm as its going to get today, by mid afternoon they say it will be in the 40's .... thunderstorms rolled in around 5AM and are forecasted to dump 3 to 4" of rain before they roll out this evening .... in looking at the pictures below, consider the fact that when i went to bed around midnight, the back yard was dry .... our phones began sounding flash flood warnings way before daylight that are still in effect .... no plans for today that would require leaving the house

40 and overcast here heading to around 50 but no sunshine expected. Should see some rain later. Hoping to continue cutting up trees today but we’ll see how cooperative with weather is going to be.
