Who else is looking for one?
Re: Who else is looking for one?
I think the term Camp gun mostly refers to the "Marlin Camp Carbine type", with reference to a long arm. It's a non threatening carbine that shoots PC cartridges, specifically 9mm or 45ACP. It's not really a hunter, but it can be, it's not really a first thought SD weapon, but it can be, It's a great campsite feral dog/inquisitive animalyoudon'twanttohaveinyourarea deterrent. It's a great, more authoritative plinker than a 22LR. It's an all round fun carbine, it had it's issues, but they are fun, and command a pretty hefty price on the used market.
I like the idea of it, I would be inline for a 45ACP Homesteader if one was produced.

Re: Who else is looking for one?
Thanks. What a great explanation. It may be just a matter of time for the 45 ACP. I will probably get in line for that one as well.Mike_S wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 11:16 amI think the term Camp gun mostly refers to the "Marlin Camp Carbine type", with reference to a long arm. Goin to a gun show Saturday and hopefully get to put my hands on one!
Though I will probably wait so they can get the "bugs worked out " on them.

Re: Who else is looking for one?
I enjoy my Ruger PCC. I have looked at a number of YouTube’s on the Homesteader and it would not have been my choice if it had been available when I got my Ruger. First is the price. As has been said about $400+ more than the Ruger. Performance seems to be pretty equal. But I can brake the Ruger down in seconds and store and carry in half the space. The poly furniture is great in my wet climes and pushing though dense woods. That was one of the reason I wanted the X model. I use the Glock mag well because it make it inter changeable with my model 45 9mm mags.

I finally managed to get one on order. I purchased the one with the Glock mag adapter. Thought i would have it today, but there was some sort of shipping delay. Maybe tomorrow then...

Not me. Not enough horsepower for a rifle.
Re: Who else is looking for one?
For those who are, Sportsmans Warehouse is taking preorders, but 2 of the 3 models have since this morning (3/16/2023) sold out. One model left.

I'd sure like to see a real world range report. I'm wanting to know about trigger pull, accuracy and function. A range report would be appreciated!navvet8189 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 8:17 pmI finally managed to get one on order. I purchased the one with the Glock mag adapter. Re: Who else is looking for one?
The Homesteader is not for me since I already have a Ruger PCC in 9mm. Now if Henry decide to produce one in 45 ACP I will give it a second look.

Re: Who else is looking for one?
I was interested in the Homesteader when the news first broke. None of the LGS's around here are getting them in stock and I'd want to handle one before before plunking down the money. On Gun Broker they're selling at $1000 or more which seems a little bit rich to me. Then I read what seemed to be a real world range test from Outdoor Life. The trigger pull on the rifle in their test had a considerable amount of creep and registered 6 lbs. 10 oz. and accuracy at 100 yards was in the 6" to 8" range with a scope sight. It wouldn't be realistic to expect MOA accuracy or a crisp light trigger pull from a 9mm carbine....BUT....I would not be happy with that particular rifle.
Re: Who else is looking for one?
It doesnt sound like to many early buyers of this rifle are very happy with them either.

Re: Who else is looking for one?
It will still be 3 or 4 weeks before I am able to shoot mine. I did buy two 27 round glock mags to push through it. I'm looking forward to it.
