Anyone need a spare lever?
Anyone need a spare lever?
So, the lever on my HO10 was rusting a bit not matter how cleaned or oiled I kept it. Called Henry, sure, no problem, get one out soon.
They did, but it ain't for a 45-70. Could be a rimfire lever maybe? Small loop. Not sure what it fits.
If you want it, it's yours.

Re: Anyone need a spare lever?
I saw a BB-23 lever for sale in EBay and the seller said he removed it from his H012 which I believe it the Big Boy Steel. If so, I’ll take your lever as I have a large loop on my 41 and I like the look of the small loop better. So to pay it forward I’ll offer up my large loop here once I receive your lever and make sure it works with my rifle. I’ll send a PM.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Anyone need a spare lever?
When looking through the BB part list in the Owner's Manual (2018), the lever is #23.

Re: Anyone need a spare lever? UPDATE
Update. Stets sent me this lever for my Big Boy but it didn’t fit it either. Interesting the bag is marked BB-23 which is for a Big Boy and the instructions inside are for the installation of a large loop lever which this one clearly is not. Understand both a standard and a large loop lever will interchange but this seems to be a miss match of bag, instruction and lever. The screw head is slightly smaller in diameter than my Big Boy screw, .026 and .027. Stets is probably right that it will fit a rimfire. It will not lock up when installed in my Big Boy.
So….. if anybody wants to give this unit a try PM me your address and I’ll mail it to you.

Re: Anyone need a spare lever?
It’s in Deer Park Washington with Hatch, and I’m going to take it international to Christina Lake British Columbia! If it doesn’t work for me I know someone with a different model rimfire that wants a small lever
You’ve started a a great tradition of passing parts around! You’re a good man Stets!

Re: Anyone need a spare lever?
The mystery is solved. Today I pulled a standard lever from another Big Boy and compared the two. Exactly the same to the eye test. So I put the lever sent to me by Stets in that rifle and it worked fine. When I first put the replacement lever in my large loop Big Boy there was some resistance and since I’m not one to force things I backed off. Big mistake. I pulled the large loop out again and firmly inserted the replacement lever and it fit and functioned perfectly.
So for the little guy sent to me by Stets its journey has come to an end. It will be living and levering 41 mags in and out here in Washington State. I’ll be passing on my large loop to 45Steel who had contacted me a few weeks ago expressing an interest in it. Funny, he and I are on the same page wanting consistency in the style of levers in our Henrys. He claimed OCD and I’m right there with him.
In the words of The Grateful Dead, “What a long strange trip it’s been”.

Re: Anyone need a spare lever?
The large loop lever from the very generous Hatchdog is now installed on my BB.45 colt and functioning as it should. My 3 Henry rifles all match now and my OCD is calmed.
I'd like to pay this forward, so I'm offering this regular straight lever to anyone who would would like it. It is exactly like the one Stets posted a pic. of in the 3rd post of this thread topic. (Anyone need a spare lever?) Let me know here and send me a PM and it's yours.
