Keltec PMR 30

Post by graywolf » Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:13 am

I thought somebody had one, but after looking I don’t see a post. Just wondering if anybody had one and how you like it.

Graywolf I think Navvet has a pair of them that he likes real well. My neighbors son has one and Ive shot it. Me myself I dont care for the grip. It feels long and skinney in my hand. It shoots fine as long as you make sure you get the 30 round magazine loaded right. Otherwise you will have a jam. They are priced less than most but me if I was going to buy a 22 mag semi auto Id get the Rock Island in 1911. Ya it doesnt hold as many rounds but a 1911 has a great feel in my hand anyway. YMMV
Don't let the old man in

Hey wolf. I've got one. It's a blast, literally. I'm shopping for a reflex sight. Need to get serious about it. Will let you know how that goes.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I have one and I bought my daughter one. The 30 rounds is what I liked best about the gun. But you are right, I found that if you load only around 25 rounds you can cut way down on the jams. We were at the gun range today with no jams what so ever.

I've had one for a long time but have only shot a box of shells in it. Reason I brought it up is my Grandson asked me about a couple days ago. I got it out last night to get a feel for it. I remember it was hard for me to load 30 rds in mag. I loaded it with 25, shot them, then loaded the other 25. That's only reason I know I only shot the one box. I remember I didn't have any problems with it. If nothing happens, I'm gonna shoot it tomorrow. I also remember like Big Al said, the grip will take some getting used to. Hopefully will be able to talk more about it tomorrow night.

I’m still planning on shooting it today. But let me tell you. I took it out last night with me to check out noise. I decided to shoot a couple times. Gosh, you talking about a flame.

Shot 25 rds. thru it today and no kind of problems. The grip takes a little getting used to. I think I’m gonna start shooting it more. Need to get more ammo. Navvet, Cofisher, do you get the full 30 rds in magazine. It was getting pretty tight with 25. I didn’t take any pics today because it was windy and I wasn’t shooting for accuracy. Just getting a feel for it. Also, it was pretty easy to take down to clean.

Using the loader, yes. Full mag. Fingers? Not so much.

I typically only load 25. Not wanting to overload the spring, easier loading. And, it's easier to keep track of a full box when you only take out 25 at a time.

I’ve never liked loading a magazine to its capacity unless I was going to shoot it then. But I’ve also always heard it don’t hurt nothing. I guess I should load the full 30 to see if it jams. So far with the 25, it’s hasn’t.

I also use the speed loader and usually load 25. It seems to me that when the spring is fully compressed, there is no spring in the spring. Not sure.

I may have to check on a speed loader. Never used one.

I installed a red dot on my daughter's PMR 30 this weekend. I think it looks pretty sweet. She shoots my Mark IV with a red dot and really likes it. We are headed to the range on Wednesday to check it out.

Cofisher, I haven't forgot about you. Plans changed and we haven't made it back to the gun range yet. I will let you know.

We went out and killed a bunch of paper today. She probably pushed 90 rounds through her PMR and her red dot stayed true. I will probably need to make adjustment now and again, but she is happy with it so far.
