Americans Purchased These Firearms The Most In 2022
Found this interesting. Henry was on the list. Of course, no one really knows. But, this is an indicator.

The list is Gun Broker specific. Don't think their business is big enough to represent the whole 2022 market.

Few people would buy an H001 on GB because you can get them everywhere.

I agree. GB is limited. But, isn't that how surveys are done? A small sample is taken. Then, things are extrapolated from it. We have about 330,000,000 people in America. Does someone contact every person in America, when a survey is taken? Most time, a small group is surveyed. And, the results depend upon which part of the population was surveyed. To me, the post is just an indicator of people purchasing firearms. The type and brand may not be accurate. Yet, it is an indicator.
People probably are buying more pistols, and the caliber probably is 9mm. Do we need a survey for that? Probably not. As for brands, I would say that Glock and Smith & Wesson are at the top of the list. As for long guns, I suspect that there has been a increase with the purchase of shotguns. Which brand, that may be a factor of which brands are available on the market. As for rifles, I would suspect something used for hunting. Some say that a modern sporting rifle (MSF) is a good choice for hunting. But, I have been looking at a .308 in a bolt action. Why .308? Availability of ammo. Why bolt? I have noticed that my lever get caught sometimes, when I sling it on my shoulder. So, I wonder if things would be different with a bolt action. Why not MSR? Just does not trip my trigger. I am more of a traditional, and I like to keep things simple. In most things, I prefer the KISS method (Keep It Super Simple). To me, simple = reliability. I could be wrong. Yet, it works for me.

Agree. It's only a snapshot sample which are usually off by quite a bit regardless of the subject. What counts is the trend over several years, but not many people pay attention to trends because it doesn't make good copy for headlines.

Here's a list from 2020, that seems to be a little more accurate.IMHO
Broke down from buyers under 50 yrs old, and those of over 50.

I don't think GB would qualify as a valid survey sample. Too many sellers are flippers. They buy a popular gun and try to flip it at scalped prices, skewing what could have been a valid sample.

That is the problems with most surveys. That is why it is up to the reader to eat the meat and spit out the bones, kind of like eating fish.

Also taken from GB data. The source link at the bottom of the page https://nssfpdf.s3.amazonaws.com/Online ... ne2020.pdf opens a file containing GB sales data.Vaquero wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 10:19 amHere's a list from 2020, that seems to be a little more accurate.IMHO

Too much GB fish meat to eat to make it worth while. In the end it just stinks.GFK wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 11:27 amThat is the problems with most surveys. That is why it is up to the reader to eat the meat and spit out the bones, kind of like eating fish.

I'd say that the AR-15 is still top dog of purchased rifles, the manufacture differ as there are umptine dozens different companies that build them now.
As far as handguns, well I haven't a clue what the most popular is, but most likely some flavor of 9mm.

Re: Americans Purchased These Firearms The Most In 2022
I wouldn't be surprised if that survey is closed to being fact, for GunBroker sales, but there is another facet that I've not seen discussed.
As each surge in gun sales grows larger, more and more people join in and purchase more arms.
When this happens some models become scarce.
When a lot of the most popular models become unavailable, people turn to their second, third, or even fourth choice to purchase, because that's all that's available.
Sort of akin to a self-licking ice cream cone.
