That is nice shootin', Randy!!! 👍👍

Was that done with open sights? If so, even better, in my book.....

I'm " sorta hopeful that", and begining to think that some of my poor groupings with both my golden Boy .22 and my H009 .30-30 are partly the blame of my eyes. 😵💫 Known cataracts and other issues that I need to get taken care of. I probably also have poor shooting technique, but have noticed that my 100 yd.groups are mucho better with my scoped .30-06 than the peep sighted .30-30.....

Vaquero, How are your eyes for cataracts? I had mine done about four years ago and my eyes are better than they have been in forty years. I had the long distance lenses put in but I can read all except very fine print if the light is good with out my reading glasses. When shooting I can see both iron sites and the target. I will be 75 on the 2nd of June. I had them checked at the eye Dr. a few months ago and they are still 20/20 both eyes.Anyhow something for you to consider if you haven't already.

And not to hijack the thread, but Travlin, did you have some sort of RLE or laser-type surgery for your eyes, or simply cataract surgery and eyeglasses?

Travlin, I had cataract surgery on the right eye quite a few years ago.
The left one does need it, but it's not nearly as bad as the right when I had it done.
I shot left handed for a number of years prior to the surgery.
I can still manage decent groups lefthanded, but only if the rifle is scoped.

That is some great shooting at that postage stamp sized target Randy and your rimfire collection in that picture is a good one!
I need to get out and shoot this weekend and take a break from my building project.

Thanks forty, I need to shoot 'em a little more often, it would probably help.
That's just a few of what is around here. ;)
Probably not much shooting this weekend as it's suppose to a wet one.

Just cataract for both eyes. First one and then a few weeks later the other. Laser is way above my pay grade but St. Lukes did my eyes and even sent me a check to refund my co-pay both times. The dimming of my eyes was so gradual over the years that I was amazed at the improvement. The only glasses I use are drugstore readers and then only in poor light or very fine print.I am typing this and read any and all forums with just my eyes and no glasses. Vaquero, why did they not go ahead and do your other eye ? Was it not bad enough?

Correct, at that time it was fine and I had no issue with it.
Like you said, it is a very gradual decline.
When I had the right one done, before the surgery it was like looking through a piece of wax paper.
The left even now is no where near as bad as the right was back then.
I probably should check on getting it done this year, we'll see.

Vaquero, Take care of yourself and just think as good as you can shoot now imagine what you will be able to do when you have both eyes new and improved.
