New Guy from WV
Hello all.
Bought my first Henry a few months ago and have really been enjoying it. A while back the local Rural King had a Ruger BH 7 1/2" stainless 45 Colt for $479 with another 12% off and I couldn't pass up. I reload and cast and this caliber seemed o easy to work with that I knew I must have it in a rifle form. So one day I fell in love with the Big Boy Brass 45 LC.
This thing shoots amazingly well with reloads right out of the box. I fell in love with it. My new goal is to pull down the action and try to smooth things up just a hair better. Even though it's pretty good already. Any tips would be very much appreciated.

Didn't know there were grizzlies in WV. Welcome from the Shenandoah Valley, VA. Congrats on the brass 45 BB.

Welcome from the ridiculous state of California. What part of West Virginia are you from?
Enjoy the Big Boy Brass and the forum. I think you will find both very enjoyable.
There have been a few discussions about trigger jobs here with mixed feelings. Some say the trigger could be better while the majority tend to want to leave the trigger as is. It may be worth posting a new topic asking if anyone has successfully polished/improved their trigger noticeably.

Not even considering a trigger job. This rifle started out as a tool that would hopefully be a good gun in the event the world decided to get ugly. It's easy for me to mass produce ammo very quickly and all family members are would be capable of effectively using it.
I have the ability to easily cast bullets and can use BP loads if necessary. At the moment it's cheaper for me to shoot than my .22's.

OK I must have misread your initial post. Either way, enjoy the rifle!
Also, I grew up in the Ohio River Valley on the Pennsylvania side (not too far from the Pittsburgh airport).

You didn't misread. But I am pretty satisfied with the trigger. Mine is breaking just at 4 lbs. I'm more interested on what can be gained with some action work.JCN wrote:OK I must have misread your initial post. Either way, enjoy the rifle!

I will say. For the first time tonight I disassembled my action. I expected a lot of rough pieces. But was pleasantly surprised that this is a very smoothe gun. Very much like my older Marlins. I don't think there is going to be a whole lot of room for improvement.
