I wouldn't try it at home or anywhere else for that matter and if someone did that around me, I'd duck for cover. I'm not riding a horse, operating a lever gun with one hand in a movie shootout with train robbers, though, so what do I know? Each to their own.

I think that would be pretty hard on the action. Don't know, never tried and, most likely, never will.

one of my first lever actions rifles was a Rifleman series .... it had a small flap on the lever that you could adjust to automatically pull the trigger when the lever was closed .... it was a cap rifle that used rolls of caps ....when you worked it rapidly it would skip as many caps as it would pop

I don't recall ever seeing the round finger area on movie rifles on a real hunting rifle .... if I had one, I'd give it a try but only if it was completely unloaded

My Dad and I would watch that show. He would just roll his eyes when he saw Chuck Connors do that.

I gave it some thought. Put my hand in the lever to kinda get a feel for it. Decided the rifle was too heavy (octagon barrels) and would abuse the back of my fingers and knuckles.
