Re: Models
Been a long winter. In between the paint and glue drying I handload. The USS Constitution is a work on progress. It a plastic model but I planked the bottom and top decks. Good weather means shooting. Modeling is for the winter months.

They all look great, you do really nice work! The USS Constitution should be beautiful when you are finished! The USS Missouri is awesome. I taped off the Arizona to spray the water line red, but I didn't have the patience to tape again to get the black line painted above the red. Maybe at one time, but not anymore.

Here is two different views of the pirate ship. The hardest part was holding the masts in place until the glue dried.

Re: Models
The half track is a diecast, but I built this super hornet from scratch.

Re: Models
Thanks Dutch, you do really nice work also. The pirate ship looks great and the half track is fright on target. I screwed up on the Bismarck's paint. The strips on the side should be facing in he opposite direction. Realized it to late.

Speaking of models, nice Jeep. Lost my friend to cancer last year and his widow has a fully restored Korean War vintage Jeep for sale. It has a top and a machine gun post with a nearly full sized 50 cal. St Paul, MN. We worked, hunted and fished together for a little over 50 years. Would make someone a nice drive heading to the range.

I am sorry to hear about your close friend who died.
The old Jeep sounds really cool!

It had to have been difficult to lose such a good and old friend, but I'm glad you have 50 years of happy memories that you made with him.Wisconsin Shooter wrote: Lost my friend to cancer last year ... We worked, hunted and fished together for a little over 50 years.

Re: Models
Update,
I keep saying that I don't have the patience anymore, but a couple of days ago I thought that I would build one more. The P.T. 109 from World War II that was John F. Kennedy's boat. I don't always follow the color scheme on the directions depending on dificulity and paints available. Approximately 23 hours to paint and assemble.

Re: Models
Definitely looks like it will do the right thing in a sea battle!
Great WWII rescue story about JFK. The movie depiction with Cliff Robertson was well done.
Nice job on your model, Dutch, and a cool addition to your flotilla. Glad you kept on to "build one more."

Re: Models
Dutch, that's nice work. I was in a bookstore yesterday. Every time I go in there, there is an old Revell model kit of the PT109 on a shelf behind the counter. I haven't asked about it because I think I have the same one stored at my parents.
I'm glad you found the time. I like this thread.
What do you paint with, brush, air brush or both?

Re: Models
I think I had that Missouri model
I didn't finish it, or probably any other model when I was a kid. I should have taken it as a warning of life's future direction

I paint the parts with a brush but I spray the decks and hulls with the small cans of Krylon hobby and craft spray paint. I have never had an air brush.daytime dave wrote:Dutch, that's nice work.
