I used to hunt bears years ago in the Western North Carolina mountains. One of our club members still hunts the NC coast and once got an 800 lb. one out there. Your 44 mag. is the perfect gun, as I'm sure you know. I would say, give the coastal bears a try if you get the opportunity. I would.
