30 climbing up to 34 before the day ends. Got about an inch of snow overnight, just enough to cover the Dish dish and block the reception. My poor wife had a bad night of sleep and was up very early. Sadly, no TV for her and being a news junkie she wasn’t too pleased. Thankfully she didn’t wake my up to go out and clear off the dish.

Leaving here in a little bit to meet a buddy at an indoor range in Spokane. He has a new LCP Ruger to shoot. He is a current gun owner but rarely shoots so I’m going to give him some pointers. His plan is to use this LCP as a daily carry which is a new process for him.

It was a bit cooler early this morning at 47°. We never did get any rain yesterday after the weather people warned us about some strong storms developing ahead of the front. I guess that was a bit embarrassing for them. I just cooked some hot cereal, toast and coffee this morning. I've got some work to do finishing up a saxophone and clarinet overhauls now that I've got the parts in. The supply chain issues have now reached the instrument repair business, especially pads for woodwinds. The wait time is horrendous. Later,

I originally mounted my Dish dish high enough that I needed to climb a ladder to clear the snow off of it, not fun on a cold night with snow covering the ladder steps. A Dish tech came by a few years ago to set up a new receiver, he tested my reception and it was not great because of a tree that had grown taller over the years was partially blocking it's line of sight. He moved it to a lower spot on my garage and now I can clear the snow off it from the ground.

There are satellite dish heaters that keep snow and ice melted off.

Back home from N. CA. 30 ish and about 1" snow over ice when we left. Uneventful trip home.
Started with tea, toast and yogurt cup. A few hours up the road pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and coffee.

29 degrees to start but im so pleased no snow at all.. a fairly mild january after a few days of bitter weather in december... i appreciate as im sure the livestock and wild critters do.
Second cup of coffee already.... going up to my sons tomorow to help him work the sheep flock. A less intense day than cow working day cause it is easier to make a sheep cooperate than a cow...

50 on its way to 59 under a beautifully clear, Carolina Blue Sky with no call for rain between now and Sunday ....a regular breakfast has come and gone, Folgers still flowing through a Henry mug .... we hauled trash yesterday and plan to take off the recyclables today .... if all goes well, I hope to get a new Dish Wally Receiver installed and activated in our camper today

It was 52° this morning with overcast skies and a wind of about 12 mph. It made for a chilly walk with the wind. I cooked bacon, eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast. I've got to get some work out today.

I hope to get a new Dish Wally Receiver installed and activated in our camper today.

I want to get that done as well. We have the Wineguard Satellite Dish and two 211 receivers, but I want the
Hopper and Wally installed. I purchased the switch that is required last year but the guy that installed it
didn't do it right and it never worked. Instead we just went back to the 211s. is Dish doing this for you?
I was told they were reluctant to have them used in RVs because they feared damage to the hard drive
from moving them around. I was also told that when you power them off the hard drive locks up and cannot
be damaged.

I have a five foot brush duct taped to a painters extendable rod I use to clear off the dish. Nothing like duct tape to bring out my inner redneck.

Mags, I’ve seen the dish heaters you mentioned and as usual I never think about them in the spring/summer/fall when they can be installed. One of these days…

25 here with a high of 31 coming later. I guess Spokane is fogged in but here on the ridge it’s clear with filtered sun coming thru. Looking east through the trees it’s’ just a white wall of fog but there’s a river in that direction which always gets very foggy on days like this. Mrs. Hatchdog and I are planning on going to the RV show in Spokane today. Not planning on buying one but it’s fun to look and gets us out of the house.

we have a Dish Hopper at home that is connected to an old type 3' or so dish mounted on a pole

Also I got my new bullet puller and have a hundred rounds of 357 to pull. The scales
were messed up and they only have about two grains of Unique in them. Not enough.

a hard drive to one so I can record, but still that's a far cry from the Hopper. I may order a Wally just to upgrade what
I have but I'm taking the Hopper with me and maybe I can find someone to do the connections it requires in the RV.

sorry, I don't know what a 211 is so I can't say anything about them .... yes our Hopper is a much, much. much better machine .... years ago when we switched from Direct to Dish I asked about getting two Hoppers and was told that they aren't designed for use in an RV ....I do not know if this is correct or not buy was told, they aren't designed to work with portable antennas .... if your camper coax wiring is properly installed, connecting a Wally to your camper is very easy process .... when using coax longer than 25' to connect a portable automatic antenna you will need a signal booster
