"Showing Off" -- Henry Small Game Carbine in .22LR
Weather held steady
It was a very cloudy day yesterday, but the rain held off for my shooting time. Temp was a comfortably cool 67* with a mild wind crossing the firing lanes.
Easy Ammo choice & Stance
I used only one ammo brand for this range visit: WIN SuperX Varmint & Small Game 40gr High-Velocity CPHP (1435 FPS). And the only way I shoot: standing, off hand.
Homemade cardboard
These four black and orange splash targets are 2” size, set out at 15 yards. Shot 10 rounds/target. When I got to the orange targets at second firing round, my “sighting” eye was getting better, and the groups were getting tighter.
Two black splash targets are 3” size, and were set at 25 yards. Shot 20 rounds/target. As is quite evident, I still have work to do to hold my barrel more steady for longer-distance shooting. There are too many “cardboard” POIs, and not enough splashes at this yardage. I’ll just have to keep “on the range” until I get it together!
The Henry “show-off-time”
Three fellows at the booths on either side of me took a little time and watched me shoot, but mainly admired my Henry SGC. I had an enjoyable chat with them about my carbine. And yes, it is very much fun to show the Henry off. One of the guys also shoots .22 rifles, and said to me that the “Henrys are real shooters!”
Ah, fellow Henry lovers --- we can be proud of our Rifles!
