Range Report: 10/22 International

I haven’t shot this rifle in a long time. Mainly because the original rear sight fits loose and will slide around too easily. My solution was to install this receiver peep.

It came with this fire sight but I couldn’t install it because I couldn’t find my brass punches.

I shot a full magazine through it at 35 yards offhand and couldn’t hit the bullet trap. I went inside and checked the new front sight height and discovered it was much higher. I loaded up another magazine and aimed a foot low and hit the trap all ten times.

I ordered a new set of punches and will need to wait a week before putting the new sight on it.

As organized as you are I am very surprised that you couldn’t find the brass punches. You know that the day after you receive the new set you will find them.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

I think it was in a box with all my tools that were left behind.

Good to see you shooting 10/22s, again. Just like old times. We still have our mid 80s Sporter Deluxe. Might have to pull it out and put a few rounds though it sometime.

By the way, those factory front sights on a 10/22 can be a real challenge to tap off with a punch. Ours was a nightmare. Do have have a sight puller? In fact, it was to use that very same Williams peep.

I had a sight puller at one time. I left so much behind and I’m still finding more and more stuff that I don’t have anymore.

We got ours out, but eventually just went back to a scope, anyway. Still wears a 4x Nikon Rimfire after all these years.

I’ve always liked the look of the International but to date have never owned one. Love that Manlicher stock look. I’ve always had a desire to own a 7x57 with a full length stock. No need but maybe someday I’ll have one.

Thanks for posting the pictures of yours, nice eye candy for me.

I like my CZ full stock more with the traditional tangent sight.
