Locking up is habitual to me. So much that I do it without even thinking about it. Easy enough and better safe than sorry.
Me too, but my wife gets snappy at me when I unconsciously do it during day light hours.
Been through that too.
She got over it. She does however on occasion direct a well deserved laugh at me when I lock myself out of someplace like my car or my shop, before I was finished there. :D

I always lock up, even during the day when I'm home. I may leave the back door unlocked when I'm outside and within sight. I'm almost always carrying when I'm outside. My place is not such that I'm likely to have a home invasion but if I do I want enough time to grab my gun and maybe my Shockwave. If I'm not home all my guns except the one I'm carrying are locked in the gun safe.

When I'm out on the property and no one else is home. The doors are locked. Side door has a digital keypad, so I won't get locked out. How fast can you do digital keypad when you gotta pee bad, though

Out and about ya. Inside the no pee zone closer in nope.

Back on track. Kids gave us a Ring 3. Default setup leaves no privacy and open to ad spam sent to your phone. Last night we get an alert from someone for a lost dog. So one thing leads to another I discovered that there is a Neighborhood mode. Appears to be on by default and set to max range. In that I'm seeing other people's video streams from their Ring devices for miles around.

I'm not totally familiar with the Ring control settings, but I disabled Neighborhood mode, deleted their videos saved in my storage space and Opt'd out of every setting I could find in the Ring 3 settings. I hope I nicked everything that intrudes on and/or compromises our privacy and the privacy of others.

I need to get better familiarized with this device and decide whether or not to keep it.

I finally opted out of Ring and went with SimpliSafe. I find it a lot more user friendly.

We had breakfast with a neighbor yesterday and the elderly man murdered here in Deer Park was a member of their church. They had just been to mass and the deceased man’s daughters were there. The priest spoke on him and mentioned that while he had done hundreds of services he had never done one for a victim of murder before. Our neighbors said that they “heard” that the sheriffs office has a person of interest but I haven’t seen anything about that on the local news. Sure hope they catch the dirtbag.

A little update to the case.... there is supposedly a missing person in the neighborhood and according to someone who knows him more closely he normally wore same style athletic shoes and socks like that my buddy saw on the body. Nothing official yet from local authorities.
The other details of this whole deal make for an interesting story! This guy wasn't homeless as he had a bunch of money and owned several homes in the immediate area.

Thanks for the update forty, I’ve been wondering about the event that started this thread. No update on our Deer Park murder but the Moscow ID event is getting lots of coverage. Another rumor I heard about the DP guy is he went around our golf course community knocking on doors asking people if they had any guns. Seems not very likely to me.

Local Police released news that the body was of a black 19 year old male that has been missing since Nov. 27 2022. The person was from the next county and case is being investigated as a homicide. I'm thinking a drug/ gang killing but why dump the body in our neighborhood with plenty of other places closer.

Here’s a shocker, a 6 year old shoots a teacher in VA. Where the heck are the parents and why aren’t guns locked up when you have children in your home? Wow!!

Wonderful update on the Deer Park murderer. Right before and right after the murder in Deer Park there were a series of random assaults in Spokane. These assaults include two (probably homeless) women sitting in a doorway who were sprayed with bear spray and then kicked in their heads, a man in a Target store restroom hit in the head with a hammer and three other assaults. The scumbag was arrested for these assaults and while in jail his DNA matched a sample he conveniently left at the murder scene. Looks like he broke thru a window and cut himself. This happened while the owner was not home and it appears the victim came home while the dirtbag was in the process of the burglary. He was loading guns into the owners pickup and when the owner came home he stabbed him several times. 83 years old. No death penalty in Washington State so hopefully the bad guy will get life without parole. Probably not here in Washington…..yuk

Good to hear they got the guy. I was in Spokane again last Friday, and over in Post Falls Id as well. Saw some really bad driving, but nothing else of note. I’m not a fan of the death penalty, but not because I’m a bleeding heart. I think life with no parole is a far worse penalty than dying. If you’re 30, you will spend maybe 50 years in misery in a cell, whereas with capital punishment you’re done in a few seconds. Let the bastards rot! (Yes, I know it costs a lot to house criminals, but I don’t want to get in to my “Waterworld” style prison plan where inmates have to eat each other to survive! 🤣)

When you were just south of Deer Park on Hsy 395 you were within a half mile of the murder scene. Just goes to show us how close we are to some really bad stuff and don’t know it. Just like Forty’s dead guy across the street. What a world we live in these days.
