I usually don't post much here because our weather can be rather boring. Tonight though is very uncommon as it is supposed to drop to 4 degrees in the western N.C. mountains. Brrr. The wind was terrible last night. Usually it doesn't wake me up, but it woke me at 5:00 AM. Our wind chills will be sub-zero tonight.

Warmed up to 18F today. If it gets up into the forecasted 30's next week I'll get out and make some smoke.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, kids and grandson over for supper Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas to all, and Happy New Year from Alberta.

Dogs got me up before 6 this morning. It was 22 on the dog walk. They certainly handled it better than I did. I haven't cooked breakfast yet but will cook some eggs this morning.

So far the 55 mph winds haven’t materialized. It’s been cold and snowed a foot but that’s about it. The winds have topped at maybe 25 mph.

Fair -3°F
Humidity 68%
Wind Speed NW 16 G 26 mph

Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 3. Wind chill values as low as -25. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
I have to get the plow out and clean up the drive and yard this morning. 3 below is ten degrees warmer than it was two days ago when I started plowing. I need to make it easier for the kids to get in for Christmas Eve.

Merry Christmas Eve all,

Here is is starting to warm up, current temp is 14 and 17 is the high. A little bit of freezing rain coming down right now and it’s probably going to get pretty ugly for driving later. Fortunately we’re just going next door for dinner tonight and while we have to drive it will be on just community roads that will be fine. Feel bad for all the folks across the nation who are either stranded or struggling to get anywhere.

Today I need to do some shoveling and plowing and give the roof eves some attention. We have rain coming the first of the week and the two feet of snow on my roof is going to soak it up like a sponge. I’ll make sure the water access to the gutters isn’t blocked but there is no way I’m going to shovel off my 12:1 pitch roof. I’ll do what I can from the ground and let the rest do what it does.

5.30 Christmas morning down under, a pleasant 53 going for a top of 93.
Sitting having a coffee listening to the local bird life, kookaburra's are laughing, magpies worbling, gallahs screeching and a lot of chirping from smaller species.
Merry Christmas, enjoy the day

Wow, it’s up to 25 out there, seems like a heat wave. No local news this morning but as I recall we should see 30 today. Got all the snow shoveled, blowed and plowed and then another couple of unexpected inches came down. So I’ll be out there again today. Son and wife are coming over later for Christmas dinner otherwise it’s’ just Mrs hatchdog, treydog and me. Just had a fun gift opening with treydog, he got real excited about his new toys.
