They predicted -10 for last night and it only got down to -2 at my place, predicting a high of 2 today and I'm already up to 9. The NOAA forecast is for the airport which is around 400ft higher than my place and I'm also a lot closer to the river.

-3º blowing snow lake effect. Got about 4" that I can see and have to clear the bird feeders. Will bundle up and get the snowblower out to clear to the road I guess, I will have to go outside to find out how bad it may be.

Widespread blowing snow, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near -3.

Black Rifle Coffee and the last of the banana nut bread.
I'm plowed out pretty well so I can take a day off. I'll probably work in the shop.
I collected a lot of black walnuts and hickory nuts last Fall and I'm cracking them now in my spare time.
The Black Walnuts are used for flavoring in cookies and cakes. The hickory nuts we plan to season or candy.

Holy cow Jake, aren’t you in the more southern part of Texas? Yikes!

Warming up a bit here with the current temp of 3 above. We have a fine snow falling and it’s pretty windy so it’s blowing all over. Spokane forecast is for 2-4” and the northern areas (me) the forecast is for 4-9” by tomorrow afternoon. I’ll probably see the high end of the Spokane forecast and the low end of the northern forecast as my place is right on the transition line between the two.

My sympathies to you folks in the upper mid-west and further east for the weather your are experiencing. Makes it look pretty benign around here.

Today we’re taking the dog to the groomers and doing our Christmas dinner shopping while he is getting pretty. Already reserved the prime rib so we’ll pick that up and get the fixin’s to go with it. Then depending on if the snow is still falling (it’s supposed to snow all day) I’ll either get the removal equipment running or hang out in my recliner.

currently 47 with a possibility of warming up to 48 and a high wind advisory ..... major cold front moving through that will drop our overnight low to 13 .... our camper in which we plan to spend Christmas is parked next to one of our sons' home .... the most important thing on today's schedule is to get over there and get it ready for the coming major cold spell ....

Have a friend in the Tyler/Glimer area, he said it was 9° there early this morning.
It was -2 back home, but 51° here in central SC, but down to 38° at the moment.

I tried snow blowing the driveway. The wind picked up and it just blew back. Then I went to the store for milk and when I got out the brakes were froze and it wouldn’t start. Funny thing was I never used the parking brake. I walked down to the Rail Trail Cafe and am having a second breakfast.

19 with 1/2 inch overnight snow and ice. Swapped out the frozen hummingbird feeders. Otherwise staying inside with the wood stove.

Well, back from lunch and it's up to a balmy -4F. We felt trapped so we went out to our favorite
BBQ Joint. If you ever travel north, or south on I35, Exit 70 is a truck stop with several food places.

The roads were not too good. We saw one Propane delivery truck buried in the ditch, (slid through a stop sign),
and a County Highway snow plow also buried.
Now I'm going to put out some seed for the turkeys and settle in for the rest of the day.

Thanks, but up here we just get out our winter coats when it goes below zero.
Four wheel drive, (as I explained to my city raised neighbor yesterday), means you just
get another hundred yards into the snow bank before you get stuck. Don't ask me how
I know these things.

Was 42 yesterday now -4 . Supposed to be 57 New Year’s Day. Freeze thaw cycle until the end of April.

NOAA says it's 7F at the airport but it's 19F at my place with no wind. Got a couple inches of snow last night so I'm heading out to do some plowing. Freezing rain predicted for the next couple of days, I have nowhere I need to go so will be staying off the roads.
When I was still working I would rather have seen a foot of snow instead of freezing rain. They would usually do a 2 hour late start for freezing rain but I had to get there at my normal time as I would have to spread several hundred pounds of de-icer and sand by hand. Maintenance would do the parking lot with a sander truck but I had to do sidewalks and other areas. When I was young I had to carry a 5 gal bucket with one hand and spread sand with the other, for the last 10 years or so I could carry a couple of full buckets on the back of my tractor so I could drive about 20ft, throw sand in both directions the drive another 20 ft and repeat. A fertilizer spreader would not work as our sand came from the counties sand pile and was always damp.
