-15F and calm before the expected blizzard. The front door has several feet of snow blown up against it before I dig the past snow away.

I like the picture of the sunrise in the background, the snow not so much! I can appreciate the beauty of snow, but I've been in South Texas too long to tolerate it. I'm going to spend some time today getting prepared for the cold weather that is coming in tomorrow afternoon. It's supposed to be in the low 70's tomorrow by noon and then down to the teens early Friday morning. I'll shut off the water at the meter and drain the pipes before going to bed Thursday.
I just cooked hot cereal, toast and coffee this morning. It was 40° when I woke up and it's 46° now at about 9:30 a.m.

It’ssssss heeeeerreeee…. Minus 4 right now with a forecast high of 6 later on. Then double digit below zero tonight. But wait, there’s more…thankfully the warm up starts Friday with a high of 17 and snow. Then getting progressively warmer each day and next Tuesday might be 40 with rain. Go figure. Saw on the news today that so far for Spokane the snowfall is at 32” and typically it would be at 11” to date. Here in the Deer Park area we get at least 20% more snow that Spokane and I’m sure that’s the case this year.

Yesterday I got out and shoveled and snow blowed the required areas even tho it was still snowing. I didn’t want to be out there today doing that. Today I’ll plow the road and my neighbors place but my plow is heated so that works.

We're above normal snow depth here too. Yesterday's snow was very light and easy to plow but I'm running out of room in my driveway. If we get a lot of snow in Jan. and Feb. I'll have to get a friend with his tractor and back blade to come up and hopefully push the berms back some. Back yard is ok as I just need a path to get my plow to the driveway and I've made it extra wide.

With the storm coming I turned my downstairs radiant heat up to 70 from 68. Upstairs the heat wasn’t on and it’s currently 57. I turned it up to 68. If the power goes out I’ll at least start with a warm house.

Nature's snow machine will be ramping up. High winds funneling down the Columbia River gorge from eastern Oregon.

"Cold arctic air has been flowing into the Columbia basin [eastern Oregon], and that air is starting to filter into eastern [Portland] Multnomah County [through the Columbia River gorge]. Gusts at Crown Point have already topped 50 mph and forecasts say it will ramp up to around 100 mph Thursday and into Friday." -Katu

In the Tualatin Valley, overnight 17' low likely. Portland West Hills likely to diffuse most of the gorge winds from having much impact in the TV.

looks like we are in for cold spell over Christmas .... realizing that the temps we have in store aren't anywhere near as low as those on tap for much of the country, for Christmas weekend in our area they are literally life threatening

Minus 5 right now with a forecast high of 3 later. Current windchill is -25. Just took the dog out to complete his business and could feel the fresh breeze on my face. Funny (not) yesterday it was -4 or so when I typed my info and then I watched the temp keep dropping until it bottomed out at -14. Didn’t stay there long and then had a steady climb up to 8 or so. I plowed my place and a neighbor’s yesterday but fortunately my plow is heated and out of the wind. Otherwise the damn snow could just stay where it is.

Today I’m staying inside and making fudge and sharpening knives getting ready for that Christmas Day prime rib. Can’t wait! We have a vet appt. (Routine maintenance) at 3:00 and afterwards may grab some dinner and take a drive thur Deer Park to see the Christmas lights. Tomorrow brings another 2-4” of snow and next week…rain. While it will be nice to have the warmer temps it’s going to be a sloppy mess out there with all the snow on the ground.

30º and dropping to 11º tonight with an unknown quantity of snow and high winds all night and tomorrow. Lake effect is unpredictable as I may get a snow band here and a mile down the road may be getting nothing. Got gas for the snow blowers and the generator ( I gave my spare to a friend who did not have one ) also food, warm clothes and support from friends if necessary. Hunker down and stay safe.
