Stopped by the local Dodge dealer this morning....

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Nov 15, 2022 10:35 am

to drop off my 2014 Ram 1500 for its annual State Inspection sticker. With only 39800 miles it just needed another set of wiper blades which I put on a month ago. Looking around the lot I see several 2021 and 22 Challengers Scat Pack package 392 Hemis sitting around and then the little voices start in my head! They all looked great with a white one screaming at me with a cool looking interior package....black leather interior with dark tan suede seat inserts with the Scat Pack Bee embroidered in!!!
Service guy told me people would be all over my low mile 2014 quad door pickup with the 5.7 Hemi and low miles that I paid 29,000 for out the door in December 2013. Got to have my truck and it isn't going anywhere! Wife still has her 2011 Ford Edge with the big V6 no turbos or nothing with 50,000 miles on it and have had no issues with that.
2023 last year for the Challenger as it will be stupidly discontinued. Wait a second I still have my hot little 85 Mustang sitting in the garage...what am I thinking. About that time wife taps the horn as she pulls up to take me back home....the dream faded away and those little voices stopped!

Those Challengers are cool looking and running though sitting slow on fat tires!

Let the enabling begin…

We regret not buying this 5.0 Mustang in 2019. It had all the cool features I would want plus the correct body color and the blacked out chrome and black wheels. Couldn’t touch it today for even more than 30K this car was listed for. Interesting side note this dealer today has hardly any inventory unlike this picture. Seems like they have mostly F150’s, Explorers, Edges and Escapes. Yes, the top sellers and that makes sense but nothing that makes my wheels spin…..

I took this picture to text home to my wife. We did come back and look at it and since we were in the thinking stage about selling our classic Mustang came close to making an offer on it. But even with the money from the classic we would have had to make a payment and decided we didn’t want that. Today if we had bought it we could probably sell it for a profit.

Yep Dodge announced a while back the Challenger run will end and so will the Hemi engines which will be replaced by a straight 6 with one or two turbos....just plain stupid! The Charger will be electric powered and again STUPID!

Friend of mine bought a 2022 Corvette which most dealers do not have in stock... you put your order in and wait on a list! He went to a large
Corvette dealer in Atlantic City and 3 months later went to pick it up. About a month later he wanted same package but with the wheel upgrade so he sold it back to the dealer who had a waiting buyer for MORE than he had in it and waited for another one with the wheel option.
Now he is on a 2 YEAR wait list with 4 dealers to get the hot 20?? Z06 version!

We keep getting postcards from the selling Nissan dealer wanting to buy my 2015 Nissan Frontier Pro4x for their used car lot. I don't have to buy from their NEW car lot. I guess trucks are hot in VA right now. I have told them several times we no longer live in VA, but they keep sending the postcards, and every now and then a letter. The offers are generous, but what would we buy? The truck is paid for and set up like we want it... ;)

Like others here, I don't want a payment. I've always wanted a nicely set up Jeep, and nearly bought one several years ago, between Frontiers, but the Jeep dealer wouldn't deal at all. "The Price is The Price" he told us, "We don't have to DEAL." He told us they sell every Jeep on the lot before the model year ends and are left waiting for the new models to come to them with an empty lot except for trade ins.

It was nice, Black with both hard and soft top, brush bumper and winch, nice wheels and tires, roll bar, factory lift and light kit on the brush bar and roof. We often pulled kayaks with the Frontier and would have pulled the dual kayak aluminum trailer to the farm ponds with the jeep so it would have been perfect, but they didn't deal. We eventually ended up with the Pro4x Frontier after some shuffling. Both trucks are paid for and aren't going anywhere.

;)

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Beyond stupid! So much for their muscle car hertiage. No more hemis, new engine with turbos and an electric Charger. I need a drink!
And it isn't even April 1st!

Both our trucks meet those.
