Starting my home renovation tomorrow...Finished

Post by Coach » Tue Mar 29, 2016 8:08 pm

New kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, new appliances the works.

LED canned lighting throughout

Hardwood floors downstairs

Built in sound system throughout the house

And more.

I'm not looking forward to the process but I am looking forward to the results.

My routine as I know it will be turned upside down for awhile :?:

Sure, I can do that.

This all started because my kitchen tiles started coming up and cracking. We had a engineer come out along with the insurance people to see if we had a leak in the slab. No leak and it was determined by the engineer that our foundation was shrinking due to the drought. The soil in our area is basically clay and it was drying out. He had seen it happening a lot in my area.

No water damage = no insurance $ :(

We figured we would just go for it a do a major renovation. My house is 16 years old and has real estate Beige everywhere. It was an investment rental before we bought it.

Coach, Congrats on the updates. Make sure you have full info on the granite. Some of it has been found to emit radon . Watch out using heavy cast iron pots. I have a customer that put down a heavy pot near the sink edge and took a chip out of the granite.

I always take it for granite that it doesn't contain radon. :D

Something to keep in mind Coach....When the wife wanted all new appliances, I had her pick out what models she wanted.
We then compared all the big box stores and found that they were all within a couple of hundred bucks of each other. We
decided to get them from Best Buy....and with the "reward points' got a Dell laptop for free!

Yes we will be eating out and doing BBQ's.

The forest was my idea and the beach was my cousins. The waterfall was a post Hawaii trip idea. It is above where the entertainment system goes.

Lots of noise and dust.....we just made a massive dump run. Day 2 coming to an end.

Coach, nice work. This time last year, I was in the middle of re-modeling our master bath. All I can say is that I am soooo glad that the work is done!!!
Stay the course and over come all the little problems...and big problems, you encounter. Again, very nice work.
