another beautiful but cold (33 degree) morning with a projected high of 69 .... the good news is, a warning trend is slated to move in tomorrow and to hang around through the rest of this month .... only thing on my agenda for today is to donate blood this afternoon .... if all goes well today's donation will bring me up to 12 gallons (96 pints) ....

A high today of 67. Our normal high should be 57 so we'll gladly take it.
It's supposed to hit near 80 tomorrow and then storms on Sunday and Monday.
We need rain.

I started blowing leaves yesterday. It's a big job back here in the tall timber.

A side note.
I was getting regular emails from an old friend from long ago. Usually what he called his "morning funnies".
I worked for him long ago and considered him my mentor as he was honest, straight talking, and taught me many things
that I used throughout my career.
In June the emails stopped. I did not have a phone number or address and he did not return my emails. I thought that
that maybe he had passed.
Carol has programs that can find people since she's an Attorney. She found an address and phone number that she thought
might be him. There were actually two phone numbers. I took a deep breath and called the first one. Disconnected.
OK, I called the second and he actually answered.
I could tell he was excited to hear from someone from the past. We hunted together back in the 70s and 80s. I think he's had
a stroke from the way the talked. He said he cannot use the computer anymore so that kinda confirmed it for me.
We visited for a long time and it was very pleasant. He's 88 now and his health is not good. He asked about my children
but I avoided asking about his as I know one son died of cancer a while back.
An old boss and hunting partner. I thought I had lost him and I'm so happy He's still alive.

Here it’s a balmy 45 due to cloud cover that came in overnight. This afternoon we are supposed to get rain but unfortunately it’s not going to be as wide spread as hoped. Some areas to the south should get a good soaking but here in Deer Park we may only get some sprinkles. We need a good soaker. High today is only 49 so not much of a rise from current conditions.

I’ll take advantage of the dry part of the day to bring in the last of the outdoor furniture and other items like Yellowjacket traps and the hummingbird feeders. Then I have some items I’m taking to my son and DIL and then plan to spend a hopefully rainy afternoon holding my recliner down.

Back to warmer fall weather. It was 63° earlier this morning and now it's 66° and headed towards the middle 80's. There's still no rain in the forecast and the drought is getting worse. Right now, were in the severe drought category and haven't had any measurable rain since September 21.
I cooked eggs, bacon, toast and coffee for breakfast.

for a change, we awoke to see a cloudy morning .... 46 on its way to 73 later today .... per the local forecast it will clear, no rain today but its possible some may move in tomorrow .... the Geek assigned to take care of a printer issue called in sick so that repair will be delayed .... our youngest son and his son plan to come by this morning and cut down some diseased dogwood trees in our front yard .... hopefully doing so will stop the spread .... the wood will be burned in an outdoor patio fireplace that our son built in his back yard ....

Going for a high today in the 70s.
Coffee and some left over desert.
We got the Winnebago all winterized yesterday.
No real plans today other that yard work.
The weather guy just said that from Sept. 1 till now we only had .4 inches of rain.
This is the driest it's ever been for that time period.

Moving day for my sister today. You know how it is, a dozen people volunteer, two trucks and we are down to a big step van and 4 (hopefully) movers. At least it will be a great day. 77º and clear with no rain predicted until Wednesday. Hopefully we can finish it up today because tomorrow I may not be able to walk.

43 this morning. Looks like another nice day. Started tearing down deck yesterday, and believe me when I say we are sore. The good part though is we hope to finish it today. Ain’t it funny folks say you to old to be doing that. When you get ready, call me and I’ll help you, but when time comes to do it, everybody is busy.

I bought this weather station and set it up yesterday. It doesn’t give me wind or rain but it does everything else.

So mine came yesterday and it looks great. One problem, I put the three AAA batteries in and then plugged it in as well. While I was working setting it up I noticed it was getting hot. I mean REALLY HOT! I immediately unplugged it and decided to also pull out the batteries. They were so hot that one of them had blistered. I let it cool down and then plugged it in and it worked fine. Now I'm worried about putting the batteries in again.
I guess I probably will try fresh batteries and see what happens. Without them every time there is a power interruption it will lose it's settings.

It was 63° this morning and currently 74° on the way to the mid 80's again today. My stomach is a bit upset for some reason this morning so I'm going to take it easy. I just had cereal and coffee this morning.

38 and foggy right now with highs in the 40’s around the area. Yesterday we got the forecast rain, probably around a quarter inch. Could use more but I’m thankful for what we got. More rain on and off this week.

Today I’m going to blow out the sprinkler system as we expect freezing overnight temps this week. Also I will bring the firewood rack up to the patio and fill it. Probably going to start using the wood stove this week. No WSU Cougar football game today as they have a bye. They do play number 15 Utah on Thursday and Utah just upset USC so this will be a tall task for the Cougs.

I've never had a faulty battery, other than just going dead. I suppose it's possible though...

Not that I ever remember. I have had problems when I’ve installed a battery the wrong way.

You know, I thought of that right away but they appeared to be installed correctly. Even so I Don't think that should
happen.

So I installed three new AAs and all is well. It must have been a shorted battery.
