Range Report: all work and no fun

Yesterday I was scheduled to mow the lawn and then shoot. The mower broke a belt and I had to run and get one. By the time I got back it was too late to fix the mower. Then this morning I decided to pull the two trees that was in the way of the range.

Lunch and back to fixing the mower. Might get some shooting in before dark.

Love the layout and that is a nice berm back there! Always some task to do on a range area but save a little time afterward for a shot or two.

I want to hire the neighbor and his D6 Cat to push it up this fall. He can do in four hours what it would take me a hundred with my small tractor.

Tough luck for the trees, but, that looks way better out towards the berm. Can't wait for some Fall color range pics.

Not range pictures but they are fall. Those turkeys are part of the reason I shoot sub-sonic.

The turkeys were taken just before sunset. The fall colors were taken earlier in the day. It’s changing daily. The sunrise is from this morning from my front porch.

We're past halfway on our colors, too. Probably peak later this week.

We also had a flock of turkeys walk through the yard this last week. No pics though.

As for our shooting, it's still mostly airguns with some rimfire. I've been out of the powder burning game for awhile and was shocked to see the prices on most centerfire rifle ammo, now. Other than the black guns calibers of 223 and 308, it's very hard to justify $2 or even $3 or more per shot when we are just recreational target shooters. At least rimfire ammo is still affordable. For sure, it's more expensive these days, but still affordable enough for our uses.

Rimfire meets all my requirements in shooting nowadays. Most of my ammo was purchased two administrations ago.
