Why so few range reports?
Seems to be the same small group of folks that post up range fun with their Henrys or other firearms.
Get out and have some gun fun when you can with the Fall weather coming up and post up a report! Lots of Henry's collecting dust somewhere!
I'm heading out tomorrow with high temp around 70 which is great shootin' weather!

Guilty as anyone, here. Just that most of my shooting over the summer has been airguns and I know that's of limited interest for most folks on the forum. Been meaning to get out and burn some powder, too, but we've been so busy with other summer activities.

Gimpy.... Hard to take the heat. Be shooting again soon. Cooler weather coming. I have several things I want to test.
In the shop today working on a holster to match the 22 ammo pouch I made earlier.

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I might start carrying an air rifle along with the powder shooters as those have been collecting dust.

Nice push Forty! I sure hope to get out and shoot in the near future. This thread is an inspiration to do just that!

I primarily shoot in the desert and it's been too dang hot out there. The mountain range can be crowded or closed due to fire restrictions here.
Don't really care for indoor ranges, so, I've kinda limited myself. Fall temps coming soon and I'll be hitting the desert. I'm just not lucky enough to shoot from the back porch.

You're good Tom I see you get out when you can. This is mostly for a lot of members we never hear about but seem to read the posts.Rifletom wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 6:49 pmI primarily shoot in the desert and it's been too dang hot out there. I'm trying to get my son out this weekend since his wife is out of town for 4 days and he will be home with the two daughters 11 and 13.
The youngest likes to shoot my 22 Victory.
Re: Why so few range reports?
Time and money. I am in the middle of my first serious edit of book 1 of 5. So, my days are heads down working. My kids are in college, my daughter and her husband just bought a house so a large amount of my time has gone there. I did fix up my range and post one report. I finished loading my worked-up 38 spl loads. We will see how those turn out, and my 45c also.

My High Wall 45-70 is looking dusty hanging high on the wall and the Hi-Point 45 Carbine is hanging high and dry....might fix that!

Thanks forty. It's tough out here in Ca sometimes. But, when it's not too hot, the desert is really the spot for me. I just love it there.

Re: Why so few range reports?
I shoot almost everyday. Plinking at spinners doesn’t really make all that great of report because it’s the same one of three firearms, same spinner, the same distance and the same tube or two of ammo. I’ll do this three to ten times a day.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:54 pmSeems to be the same small group of folks that post up range fun with their Henrys or other firearms.

Re: Why so few range reports?
I always enjoy your reports. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s bb’s or 45 70. Shooting is shooting. Especially if it’s a well written report like yours.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:05 pmGuilty as anyone, here. Practice makes perfect and great medicine for mind and body! I'll send you my Hatsan .30 cal break barrel. With that workout upper body strength would be greatly improved!Sir Henry wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 7:43 amI shoot almost everyday. I am headed out today to test out my loads. I'll post up how it turns out.
Re: Why so few range reports?
Guilty as charged forty…
I haven’t been to the range for several months. Been busy with golf, camping and fishing plus doing the stuff around the house. BUT, this is the time of the year I tend to get more range time in. In fact, I have been doing a bit of a merry go round with some scopes and I know I have at least three rimfires that need sighting in. Soon baby soon.

Re: Why so few range reports?
I posted one middle of Aug., you never commented though.
Cooler weather coming more will get out.
I'm shooting the 38-55 off the deck now, but just ringing gongs.
Not a Henry though.

Re: Why so few range reports?
Nice looking Marlin tho. Randy, what's the case length on those .38-55's? Are there two different lengths for it? Thanks.

Re: Why so few range reports?
I shoot the longer brass, the 2.125, as that's what the previous owner used and he shared his best load data with me.
I have around a hundred of the shorter 2.08 brass, but I've never tried those
If I had known how much fun this cal. was I'd of had one long before now.

My Crosman Shockwave is more than enough for me. So much so I prefer my Henrys.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 8:38 amPractice makes perfect and great medicine for mind and body!
