I don't scrub the burn rings off.........If I did I'd spent more time scrubbing than shooting.....Besides they gonna come back the next time you pull the trigger.

Gotta remember to never buy a used gun from you.The Happy Kaboomer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:07 pmI don't scrub the burn rings off.........If I did I'd spent more time scrubbing than shooting.....Besides they gonna come back the next time you pull the trigger.
Just kidding. I think I'll keep mine clean though.

Yes, cleaning a firearm can be a lot of work. But, I like for things to be in the best condition possible. It seems to help things work better longer.

Color me crazy but I LOVE cleaning my guns. Little background music, shut out the world for a while. Same with reloading -

Re: cleaning cylinder face
So do you cut sections off or just use the whole thing? I got it and it turned black picking up whatever leftovers were on my "cleaned" ss revolver lol - amazing!markiver54 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 8:56 pmI've been using the cloth for years. Works great! like magic. Only way to go on SS. Don't get near blued surfaces though.

Re: cleaning cylinder face
I just keep it in one piece. I wipe off all that will come off very easily with another cloth and a basic solvent. Then I use it for the tough stuff.Kissmybrass wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 9:18 pmSo do you cut sections off or just use the whole thing? For the front of the cylinders on my two stainless revolvers I use a little stainless polish and it makes appear to be unfired.

A lead Away cloth and a Pink Pearl eraser works a charm.
Please always remember to never forget, No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: cleaning cylinder face
I just rub the cylinder face with a little oil on my thumb. Don't see any need to go hog wild on it.

Re: cleaning cylinder face
On stainless, I just clean it with a brass bristle brush and brite bore, then clean the discoloration with mother’s mag polish. Use a short bristle brush like a .22 cal bore brush. It’s easier to control the surface you’re cleaning so you don’t scuff up the sides of the cylinder. After a few times, the front of the cylinder becomes very smooth and is easier to remove the carbon.
