Range Report: a clean barrel
I had a good day at the range. Good but not spectacular. I shot this Small Game Carbine in .22LR. The rear sight base is a Skinner but the peep is a three-hole Stevens. The front sight is a Lyman globe. It of course has a custom large loop and the buttstock is from a youth rifle. Click on the picture and you will see the full beauty.
I was bench shooting at 50 yards.
The best of three targets. All three were almost the same so this wasn't exactly a cherry pick.
Cleaning the barrel seemed to help improve my shooting. I've done better but I've also done a lot worse.

Beautiful photo of your SGC, Sir Henry.
When I saw it, I had the thought that it is almost hard to believe that we have the same Henry carbine!
So I added my SGC alongside your photo to compare....a definite difference.

Good shooting. Caffeine is a must at the range.

PT7, the receiver cover also has an antique finish which adds to the appearance. A few years ago Henry sold Brasslite receiver covers for the H001. It would look great with your bronze Skinner peep. I have one on a Frontier and a tang. Its dark now but in the morning I'll take a picture of it in natural light and post it.
Yes a good latte goes great with shooting even though it speeds up the heartrate. I try to squeeze a round off between beats.

Its a simple design but works quite well. Sand bags are the perfect medium too.ace73 wrote:Good shooting SH! Glad to see your still using your bench rest, haven't seen it in a while!

Do you know if Henry still would sell a brass receiver cover for my SGC H001TLP? I'd really consider that....

Any H001 receiver cover will fit any H001. But I don't think they sell the H001 Brasslite cover anymore. If they did the cover would fit your H001TLP but you would need to drill and tap it for the Skinner mount. You might want to call them on Monday as I'm really just guessing on the lack of availability.PT7 wrote:Sir Henry wrote:PT7, the receiver cover also has an antique finish which adds to the appearance.
